A Carolina team that was upset in Green Bay last year
Thursday Night Football in Green Bay kicks off at 12:15am UK time on Friday morning, 8:15pm Eastern, at Lambeau Field, open air, on grass. Both teams had four days. Carolina are 3-3 and top of the NFC South, but lost 43-13 at home to Tampa Bay on Sunday. Green Bay are 4-3 and lost 20-17 at Detroit, after beating Dallas 23-13. The market has Green Bay by three and a half at a total of 47.5. The full picture is on the game page.
The history is an upset. Green Bay lead the series 3-1 with an average total of 43, but the last meeting was a 16-13 Carolina win in Week 9 of 2025 with Green Bay 12-and-a-half-point favourites, and Carolina have covered three of the four. Three of the four went under. The two sides are built to cancel each other out. Carolina score 26.5 points a game, sixth, and throw for 293.2 yards, second, but allow 27.7 points, 28th, and 153.2 rushing yards, the most in the league. Green Bay score 20.6, 24th, and have the league's worst rushing offence at 59.9 yards a game, but are fourth in the league in passing yards at 279.7 and have the fourth-best turnover margin at plus five. Every number for the two sides is on the Panthers stats and Packers stats pages.
Where the game is won
The matchup grid is close on three units and gives Carolina one edge. Carolina passing against Green Bay's pass defence is a 56% Panthers edge; Green Bay passing against Carolina is a 52% Packers edge. On the ground, Carolina running against Green Bay is 57% Packers, and Green Bay running against the league's worst run defence is an even 50%, the worst rushing offence meeting the worst rushing defence. The Panthers passing and Packers receiving pages show who carries each side.
The projections: Bryce Young 216 passing yards; Jordan Love 230; Josh Jacobs 41 rushing yards on nine and a half carries, a low number; Chuba Hubbard and Tetairoa McMillan in the 14-point range in the fantasy numbers. Carolina are without linebacker Jaelan Phillips, and Green Bay are without linebacker Zaire Franklin and linemen Sean Rhyan and Travis Glover. Matthew Golden is questionable for Green Bay. Both depth charts are live and the injury table updates until kick-off.
The model's number
The model has Green Bay 26.9, Carolina 20.6, a 47.5 total, and the Packers winning 68 times in 100. The market has Green Bay by three and a half, so the model and the market are about three points apart on the side. Green Bay minus three and a half at 1.98 on Kalshi is a 54.4% model call against 50.5% implied, four stars, and a half-point bet. Green Bay on the moneyline at 1.55 is a 66.3% call against 64.5%, two stars, no bet. The total is priced to the model's number, 47.5 against 47.5, so there is no opinion on it. Both teams' records against the line are on the Panthers ATS and Packers ATS pages.

Scorers, props and the slips
The props board is about quarterbacks throwing less and Josh Jacobs carrying less than the lines. Bryce Young under 253.5 passing yards at 1.86 is projected at 216, a 63% model call, five stars, and Jordan Love under 266.5 passing yards at 1.86 is projected at 230, 63%, five stars. Josh Jacobs under 59.5 rushing yards at 1.90 is projected at 41, 64%, and Jacobs under 14.5 carries at 2.00 is projected at 9.5, 63%, both five stars. Pierre Strong Jr. over 1.5 carries at 1.90 is projected at 3.4, 63%, the one over on the Green Bay board.
The scorers are a mixed board. Josh Jacobs at 1.68 is a 39% call priced at 60%, the fade. Chuba Hubbard at 1.86 is a 49% call against 54%, close to fair, and Christian Watson at 2.35 a 41% call against 43%. MarShawn Lloyd at Green Bay and Darren Waller at Carolina are three-star scorers on the board, and Bryce Young himself is a three-star at 15% against 13%. There is no single-game slip on this game this week.
- Bryce Young under 253.5 passing yards — QB, CAR — at 1.86 — Projected 216 against a line of 253.5. Game preview
- Josh Jacobs under 59.5 rushing yards — RB, GB — at 1.90 — Projected 41 yards on nine and a half carries. Game preview
The verdict
The model has Green Bay by six and a half and the market by three and a half, and the side it is asking you to take has the league's worst running game, though it meets the league's worst run defence. That is the argument for caution, and the stake is half a point. The props are the cleaner edge: both quarterbacks under their passing lines and Jacobs under his rushing yards. Last week's Thursday did not land: the model's Patriots side lost 30-24 in Chicago.
The FanTeam Thursday contest is £91m for six players and locks at kick-off. The optimiser captains Jordan Love at £16.0m for 15.6 projected points, with Bryce Young as vice-captain at £16.8m, then Chuba Hubbard, Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden (questionable) and Tucker Kraft for 94.3 projected points at £90.5m. The FanTeam optimiser has the rest of the week.
