Unbeaten Kansas City against a Seattle side that has lost its last two, the league's best defence by yards against its best offence by yards. The market has Seattle by two and a half and the model has Kansas City by half a point. The Chiefs plus the points, the props and the scorers for Chiefs at Seahawks.
The best offence by yards against the best defence by yards
Sunday night in Seattle kicks off at 1:20am UK time on Monday morning, 8:20pm Eastern, at Lumen Field, open air, on turf. Kansas City are 5-0 and top of the AFC West, coming off a 22-6 win over the Chargers. Seattle are 3-3 and have lost their last two: 32-29 to San Francisco and 17-14 in overtime at Denver on Thursday. Kansas City had seven days, Seattle ten. The market has Seattle by two and a half at a total of 42.5.
It is the cleanest collision of the week. Kansas City gain 421.6 yards a game, first in the league, at 6.8 yards a play, also first, and rush for 159.8, second. Seattle allow 252.8 yards a game, first, and 156.8 passing yards, also first. Seattle's offence is the other way round: 24.7 points a game, 13th, with the 29th-ranked third-down rate at 32.4%, against a Kansas City defence that allows 16.6 points, second. The series is level at 1-1 with an average total of 51.5, the last meeting a 24-10 Kansas City win in Week 16 of 2022. The numbers for each side are on the Chiefs stats and Seahawks stats pages, and the game page has the model.
Where the game is won
The matchup grid is tight and it leans Kansas City. Kansas City passing against Seattle's secondary is a 57% Seahawks edge; Seattle passing against Kansas City is a 57% Chiefs edge. Kansas City running against Seattle is 57% Chiefs, and Seattle running against the Kansas City front is a 64% Chiefs edge. So the grid has Kansas City's pass game contained, its run game ahead and Seattle's run game stopped. The Chiefs rushing and Seahawks receiving pages show who carries each side.
The projections: Patrick Mahomes 210 passing yards, 1.5 touchdowns and 18 rushing yards; Kenneth Walker III 88 rushing yards on 20 carries and 0.9 touchdowns; Travis Kelce 4.2 catches for 43 yards; Sam Darnold 219 passing yards; Emanuel Wilson 61.5 rushing yards; Jaxon Smith-Njigba eight catches for 93 yards and 0.7 touchdowns. Seattle are without cornerback Terrion Arnold, running back Jacardia Wright and tight end Elijah Arroyo; Kansas City are without tackle Ethan Driskell. Both depth charts are live and the injury table updates until kick-off.
The model's number
The model has Kansas City 21.1, Seattle 20.5, a 41.5 total, and the Seahawks winning 48 times in 100. The market has Seattle by two and a half, so the model and the market are about three points apart on the side. Kansas City plus two and a half at 2.11 on Kalshi is a 53.2% model call against 47.4% implied, four stars, and a half-point bet. Kansas City on the moneyline at 2.35 on Polymarket is a 47.2% call against 42.6%, three stars, a quarter. The under at 42.5 at 2.00 is a 50.8% call, one star: the model total is 41.5 and the market has it, so there is no opinion on the total. Both teams' records against the line are on the Chiefs ATS and Seahawks ATS pages.
- Chiefs +2.5 at the Seahawks — Spread, KC @ SEA, Mon 1:20am UK / Sun 8:20pm ET — at 2.11 — The model has a coin flip; the market gives Seattle two and a half. Seattle have lost their last two. Game preview
- Chiefs to win — Moneyline, KC @ SEA — at 2.35 — A 47% shot at better than 5/4 against the league's best defence by yards. Game preview
Scorers, props and the slips
The props board has one over and a theme of Kansas City's pass game being quiet. Jaxon Smith-Njigba over 6.5 receptions at 1.86 is projected at eight, a 59% model call, five stars. Travis Kelce under 45.5 receiving yards at 1.86 is projected at 43, 58%, and Kelce under 4.5 receptions at 1.86 is projected at 4.2, 57%, both four stars. Sam Darnold over 3.5 rushing yards at 1.90 is projected at 7.6, 55%, a four-star at a very low line.
The scorers: Kenneth Walker III at 1.68 is a 59% call against 60%, fair. Jaxon Smith-Njigba at 2.10 is a 52% call against 48%, the one the model likes, and he has scored in three of his last five. Emanuel Wilson at 2.00 is a 44% call against 50%, a fade. Tory Horton for Seattle and Patrick Mahomes himself are three-star scorers on the board. The NFL Parlays page has a Sunday-night One Passing Game at 96.48: Darnold over 274.5 passing yards at 3.80, Smith-Njigba over 88.5 receiving yards at 1.86, AJ Barner over 39.5 receiving yards at 3.25 and Barner over 4.5 receptions at 4.20, the model at 4.9% against 1.0%, a tenth of a point. It is a script in which Seattle throw it a lot against a Kansas City pass defence the grid rates 57% Chiefs.
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba over 6.5 receptions — WR, SEA — at 1.86 — Projected eight catches on 11 targets, the volume at the heart of Seattle's offence. Game preview
- Travis Kelce under 45.5 receiving yards — TE, KC — at 1.86 — Projected 43 yards against the league's best pass defence. Game preview
The verdict
A coin flip at the points: Kansas City plus two and a half, the Smith-Njigba receptions and the Kelce under. The model total is under the market's and the one-star under is a pass, because the case for a low-scoring game is already in the price. The news to watch is Seattle's secondary, where Terrion Arnold is out, and Kansas City's line, where Ethan Driskell is out.
Last week's Sunday night was one of the model's better calls: the under in Dallas at Green Bay landed at 36 points, and Green Bay on the moneyline won 23-13. The Sunday card of Best Bets goes out on Friday morning.
