A division game between the league's 31st and 23rd teams in the power rankings, with Philadelphia on Tanner McKee and Washington off a bye. The market has the total at 40.5 and the model at 44.3. The over, the props, the scorers and the slips for Eagles at Commanders.
A division rematch with a total the model does not believe
Sunday night in Landover kicks off at 1:20am UK time on Monday morning, 8:20pm Eastern, at Northwest Stadium, open air, on grass. Philadelphia are 2-5 and lost 38-21 at home to Dallas on Monday night; Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve and Tanner McKee is the quarterback. Washington are 1-4-1, lost 23-17 at San Francisco two Mondays ago and are off a week of rest, 13 days against Philadelphia's six. The market has Washington by five and a half at a total of 40.5. The full picture is on the game page.
The series is Philadelphia 4-2 with an average total of 54.2, and five of the six went over, so a total of 40.5 is a long way under what these two have scored: the last meeting, in Week 1 of this season, was a 24-22 Philadelphia win and went over 43.5. Both offences are poor and both defences are worse. Philadelphia score 18.1 points a game, 29th, on 4.8 yards a play, 30th; Washington score 22.0, 21st, with the worst third-down rate in the league at 30.9%. Washington allow 28.7 points, 31st, and 268 passing yards, 28th. Philadelphia allow 25.0, 21st, and 131.4 rushing yards, 27th. The numbers for each side are on the Eagles stats and Commanders stats pages.
Where the game is won
The matchup grid gives Washington the ground and Philadelphia the air. Washington running against the Philadelphia front is an 80% Commanders edge, and Philadelphia running against Washington is a 76% Commanders edge, Washington's 14th-ranked run defence against a rushing offence that is 27th. In the air Philadelphia passing against Washington is a 58% Eagles edge and Washington passing against Philadelphia a 55% Commanders edge. The Commanders rushing and Eagles passing pages show who carries each side.
Philadelphia are without safety Tucker Large, defensive tackle Uar Bernard and tackle Lane Johnson, and DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley are questionable; Washington are without defensive end T.J. Maguranyanga, and Stefon Diggs is questionable with a hand. The model has Jayden Daniels at 19.8 fantasy points and McKee at 13.0. Both depth charts are live and the injury table updates until kick-off.
The model's number
The model has Washington 24.3, Philadelphia 20.0, a 44.3 total, and the Commanders winning 63 times in 100. The market has Washington by five and a half to six, so the side is priced close to the model's number: Philadelphia plus six at 1.89 on DraftKings is a 53.9% call against 50.4% implied, two stars, no bet. Philadelphia on the moneyline at 3.33 on Polymarket is a 33.8% call against 30%, three stars, a quarter point. The total is where they part. The model is four points above the market, and the over at 40.0 at 1.91 on Fanatics is a 55.2% call against 50%, four stars, and a half-point bet. Both teams' records against the line are on the Eagles ATS and Commanders ATS pages.
- Over 40.0 points — Total, PHI @ WSH, Mon 1:20am UK / Sun 8:20pm ET — at 1.91 — Model total 44.3 against 40.0. Five of the last six meetings went over. Game preview
- Eagles to win — Moneyline, PHI @ WSH — at 3.33 — A 34% shot at better than 7/3 against the league's 31st-ranked defence by points. Game preview
Scorers, props and the slips
The props are about Philadelphia's quarterback staying put and Washington's running. Tanner McKee under 2.5 rushing yards at 1.86 is projected at 1.7, a 64% model call, five stars, and McKee under 1.5 carries at 2.25 is projected at 0.5, 60%. Jayden Daniels over 6.5 carries at 1.80 is projected at 8.8, 61%, a four-star, and Antonio Williams under 3.5 receptions at 1.58 is projected at 2.6, 68%, also four.
The scorers: Saquon Barkley at 2.15 is a 38% call priced at 47%; Rachaad White at 2.20 a 34% call priced at 45%; DeVonta Smith at 3.10 a 33% call against 32%, about fair. Daniels and Diggs at 2.90 are 31% calls against 34%. The NFL Parlays page has a One Passing Game at 97.13: Chig Okonkwo over 49.5 receiving yards at 3.80, Diggs to score at 2.90 and over 49.5 receiving yards at 2.26 and Daniels over 249.5 passing yards at 3.90, the model at 5.7% against 1.0%, a tenth of a point, and a Blowup Total at 110.65: Okonkwo over 39.5 receiving yards at 2.58, Diggs and Smith to score, Daniels over 224.5 passing yards at 2.68 and McKee over 199.5 at 1.78, 3.6% against 0.9%. The Single Game Parlays page has a Blowup Total at 121.86: Diggs and Smith to score, Daniels over 224.5 passing yards at 2.68 and McKee over 274.5 at 4.90, 3.0% against 0.8%, a tenth of a point. The slips need both quarterbacks to throw; the McKee rushing under needs nothing.
- Tanner McKee under 2.5 rushing yards — QB, PHI — at 1.86 — Projected 1.7 yards. A pocket passer behind a rebuilt line. Game preview
- Jayden Daniels over 6.5 carries — QB, WSH — at 1.80 — Projected 8.8 carries against a Philadelphia front the grid rates 80% Commanders on the ground. Game preview
The verdict
The bet is the over. A total of 40.5 for two teams whose series has averaged 54 is a price the model does not accept, even with Philadelphia's offence ranked 29th in the league, and the over is half a point. The side is a pass. The news to watch is the Smith and Barkley injury reports: if both are out, the Philadelphia number falls and the case for the over gets thinner. Last week's Sunday night did not land: Seattle beat Kansas City 20-3 and the model's Chiefs side lost.
The FanTeam Sunday-night contest is £93m for six players. The optimiser captains Jayden Daniels at £16.6m for 19.8 projected points, with DeVonta Smith as vice-captain at £16.2m, then Tanner McKee, Stefon Diggs, Rachaad White and Saquon Barkley for 96.6 projected points at £86.2m. Jeremy McNichols at £5.0m for 6.6 is the best value on the board. The FanTeam optimiser has the week.
