Saturday Bet Builders: Two Fouls Four-Folds for the 3pm Slate

Two four-folds off this afternoon's three o'clock card, both built from the player fouls board, and both staked small on purpose. One asks four players to commit two fouls each. They are also built on an idea worth explaining, because it is the reason the legs pair up the way they do rather than being scattered across eight different matches.

Four to commit two fouls - 63.37

• Evanilson 2+ fouls at 2.94 - AFC Bournemouth v Brentford. Two or more in three of his last five, including a three-foul game.
• Justin Kluivert 2+ fouls at 2.21 - same match, and the strongest projection of the four: 1.23 fouls a game with three, three, one, one and two in his last five.
• Guido Garcia 2+ fouls at 3.65 - Liverpool v Fulham, the biggest price on the slip.
• Timothy Castagne 2+ fouls at 2.67 - same match, and the most reliable leg on either slip: two or more in four of his last five.

Note the shape. Two legs in one match, two in another, rather than four players in four different games. That is deliberate. Fouls are a property of the match as much as the player - a scrappy, stop-start hour lifts everyone on the pitch at once - so pairing legs inside the same fixture means they rise and fall together. A price built by multiplying four independent numbers understates a slip whose legs are not independent, and that is the whole argument for this shape.

Four to be fouled twice - 35.37

• Quinten Timber 2+ fouls drawn at 2.25 - Crystal Palace v Ipswich Town.
• Ibrahim Fatawu 2+ fouls drawn at 2.20 - same match, and the best number on either slip: 46 percent by the model, two or more drawn in four of his last five.
• Romeo Lavia 2+ fouls drawn at 2.75 - Chelsea v Hull City, the man Hull will be closing down all afternoon.
• Michael Kayode 2+ fouls drawn at 2.62 - back at the Vitality, 1.4 fouls drawn a game.

Same principle, other side of the contact. Palace against Ipswich supplies two of the four, and Fatawu is the leg the whole slip leans on - he drew a foul twice or more in four of his last five, and he was one of the names on our winning Champions League slip on Friday night.

This one is not available as a one-tap betslip. The fouls-drawn market comes through the odds feed without the tokens a prefilled slip needs, so the legs go on your own betslip at the book. We would rather publish the slip and say that than quietly drop a bet because the plumbing is awkward.

The one that landed on Wednesday

The same board produced this on Wednesday night. We published a Champions League fouls six-fold at a headline 20/1 on the Wednesday morning, before team news. Five of the six named players started and every one of them committed a foul - Finn Jeltsch four of them, then Jules Kounde, Zlatko Tripic, Julian Alvarez and Declan Rice. The sixth, Zeno Debast, came off the bench for the last six minutes and never got near anybody, so his leg voided and the slip settled as a five-fold at 13/1. A ten pound stake returned a hundred and forty.

That void rule is worth knowing before you back either slip above: a player who does not start takes his leg out of the bet rather than losing it, and the slip reprices on what is left.
