The Statz tipster column for the second Sunday of 2026/27: five five-star best bets, a line-shopping middle in Denver, the games the model disagrees with the market on, touchdown scorers, props and the longshot slips.
Week 2, with the receipts from Week 1
Last week's Sunday card went five from six: the Steelers, Bills, Vikings, Commanders and Raiders all landed and only the Browns let us down, and the Sunday treble of Steelers, Vikings and Bills moneylines came in at a shade over 6.1. The island previews went six from ten on the game-line calls, which is what six previews with honest quarter-point leans looks like. The Best Bets ledger, which logs every pick at its published price and settles it in the open, stands at 19-12 for a profit of 5.4 units and a 17.4% return since 3 September. That is a good fortnight, not a system, and the variance section at the bottom of this column has not gone anywhere.
The Sunday slate is thirteen games: eight at 6pm UK time, two at 9:05pm and three at 9:25pm. The star rating has moved to a plain one-to-five scale this week, which makes the rule simpler: four or five stars is a bet, three is a lean, and a zero-star pick with a huge edge is the model shouting about something the market knows and it does not. The Thursday, Sunday night and Monday night games each have their own preview.
Best bets: five stars across the card
Seven selections at four stars or better, and five of them at the top of the scale. The theme is underdogs and unders: the model has four of Sunday's favourites winning by less than the number, and it has two totals a couple of points too high. The Titans getting seven at home to the Eagles is the biggest disagreement on the card the record still supports, with the model making it a four-point Philadelphia win rather than a touchdown one. The Commanders plus three and a half in Dallas is a model that has the Cowboys by two. The Steelers plus five and a half in New England is a model that has the Patriots by four.
The unders are Saints at Ravens, where the model has Baltimore winning comfortably in a 44-point game against a 46.5 line, and Raiders at Chargers, a 41-point projection against 43.5, and the Browns at Buccaneers under 42.5 at four stars. None of these are bold; they are half a field goal to two points of disagreement at fair prices, which is the kind of edge the record says is real.
- Titans +7 v the Eagles — Spread, PHI @ TEN, Sun 6pm — at 1.95 — Model has Philadelphia by 4.2, 24-20. The full seven is the number; do not take 6.5.
- Under 46.5, Saints at Ravens — Total, NO @ BAL, Sun 6pm — at 2.02 — Model total 43.6 in a game it has Baltimore winning by ten. A blowout that stops scoring is still an under.
- Commanders +3.5 at the Cowboys — Spread, WSH @ DAL, Sun 9:25pm — at 2.11 — Model has Dallas by 1.8 in a 50-point game. The hook on the right side of three, at plus money.
- Under 43.5, Raiders at Chargers — Total, LV @ LAC, Sun 9:05pm — at 2.02 — Model total 41.3. Two offences the model has at 19 and 22.
- Broncos +2.5 v the Jaguars — Spread, JAX @ DEN, Sun 9:05pm — at 2.15 — A coin-flip game where one book has Denver as the underdog. Read the middle below before you place it.
- Steelers +5.5 at the Patriots — Spread, PIT @ NE, Sun 6pm — at 1.94 — Model has New England by 3.9. Last week's anchor pick gets the points this time.
- Under 42.5, Browns at Buccaneers — Total, CLE @ TB, Sun 6pm — at 1.90 — Model total 40.5 with Cleveland projected at 16 points. The thinnest of the seven.
The line-shopping trick of the week: the Denver middle
Jaguars at Broncos is a game the model calls a coin flip, 22.8 to 22.4 to Jacksonville, and the books cannot agree who the favourite is. At the time of writing Kalshi price Denver plus two and a half at 2.15, and Polymarket price Jacksonville plus two and a half at 2.15. That is both teams available as two and a half point underdogs, and it makes a middle: a point on each, and if the game is decided by one or two points either way, or tied, both bets win and you collect 4.30 for 2.00 staked. If either team wins by three or more, one bet wins and one loses and you collect 2.15 for 2.00 staked, which is still a small profit. There is no outcome in which you lose.
Two cautions. Prediction-market prices move, and both legs have to be live at 2.15 or better at the moment you place them, so check both before placing either. And the Broncos leg is the star-rated one, five stars at 56.2%, while the Jaguars leg rates zero because its raw edge is past the band; if you can only get one of them, get Denver. The model's own answer to who wins is Jacksonville by a whisker, and the Jaguars moneyline at 2.41 on Kalshi is a four-star lean if you would rather have an opinion than a middle. Vikings at Bears offers the same shape at plus four and a half each way at 1.94, but neither side is star-rated and the return on a miss is a small loss rather than a small gain, so it is a curiosity rather than a bet.
The Sunday treble
Titans plus seven at 1.95, Commanders plus three and a half at 2.11 and the Saints-Ravens under at 2.02. The combined price is 8.31, roughly 7/1, and the model's probabilities multiply to about 18.8% against the 12% the price implies. Three five-star legs on three different questions, two spreads and a total, and it is the one I would put a unit on. Last week's treble was three favourites; this week's is two dogs and an under, which tells you what kind of Sunday the model sees.
Where the model and the market really disagree
The zero-star giants, as always framed as questions rather than bets: when the gap gets past about eight points of probability, the record says the model is usually the one missing the news.
- Panthers at Falcons: the market has Carolina by two and a half; the model has Atlanta by 3.2, a 66% call on the Falcons plus the points and a 59% call on the Falcons moneyline at 2.35. That is the largest home-dog disagreement on the board and the one I would most like to understand before Sunday.
- Eagles at Titans, the total: the market says 39.5, the model says 44.5. Over 40.5 at 2.15 is a 62% call and the Titans-side of the card assumes a 24-20 game. If the model is right about the spread it is probably right about the total too, but the total edge is past the band and the spread edge is not.
- Steelers at Patriots, the total: 41.5 posted, 48.4 projected. Over 41.5 at 2.00 is a 70% model call, the loudest number of the week, and it rates zero. Something in that 41.5 the model cannot see.
- Seahawks at Cardinals: Seattle by three and a half is the market; the model has Arizona by 1.5 at home, a 64% call on the Cardinals plus the points and a 54% call on the moneyline at 2.90. Arizona won in Los Angeles last week and the model has not forgotten.
- Raiders at Chargers, the spread: the model has Las Vegas within a field goal, a 60% call on plus six and a half. The under made the card; the points did not.
- Dolphins at 49ers: San Francisco by 13.5 is the biggest spread of the week and the model has them by 12.8, so the spread is priced right. The over 44.5 is a 65% call against a 49.7 model total, and the Dolphins moneyline at 9.52 rates three stars as a 17% shot priced at 10.5%. A lottery ticket the model likes is still a lottery ticket.
Touchdown scorers
The short prices are mostly fair this week. Derrick Henry at 1.45 is a 69% model call and the price says 69%; Bijan Robinson at 1.57 is 60% against 64% and a fade; Javonte Williams at 1.57 is a 49% call priced at 64% and the biggest fade on the board. The value is in the middle. Chase Brown at 2.05 in Houston is a 53% call, De'Von Achane at 2.40 is a 50% call against 42%, and Bhayshul Tuten at 2.70 in Denver is a 50% call against 37%, the best scorer price of the afternoon on the model's numbers.
The longer scorers the model likes are tight ends and a Cardinals receiver: Harold Fannin Jr. at 4.50 (35%, the same name as last week's Cleveland slip), Trey McBride at 3.40 (40%) and Michael Wilson at 4.75 (32%). One to ignore: Tory Horton is 12.00 to score against Arizona and the model has him at 43%, a 35-point gap. That is not a bet, that is the model not knowing something about a receiver who was questionable last week. Leave it.
- Bhayshul Tuten anytime TD — RB, JAX @ DEN, Sun 9:05pm — at 2.70 — A 50% call at 2.70. The Jaguars back the model has at the goal line in a coin-flip game.
- Chase Brown anytime TD — RB, CIN @ HOU, Sun 6pm — at 2.05 — Scored last week at 1.66; the price has drifted the wrong way for a back the model has at 53%.
- De'Von Achane anytime TD — RB, MIA @ SF, Sun 9:25pm — at 2.40 — Miami projected at 18 points and most of them through him. A 50% call at 2.40 in a game the model has going over.
- Trey McBride anytime TD — TE, SEA @ ARI, Sun 9:25pm — at 3.40 — The Cardinals' target hog in a game the model has Arizona winning. Also the ceiling leg of the Tight End Day slip.
Props the model rates
Three props carry five stars on the prop board this week, and all three are on Bet365. Andrei Iosivas over 15.5 receiving yards at 1.95 is projected at 26 with a 61% over, the Bengals' third receiver against a line set for a fourth. Rachaad White, now a Commanders back, over 23.5 rushing yards at 1.86 is projected at 34, a 64% over, in a game the model has close and run-heavy. And Christian McCaffrey under 4.5 receptions at 2.10 is a 56% call against 45% implied: the model has San Francisco winning by 13 and McCaffrey handing off to the run game rather than the screen game once they lead.
- Rachaad White over 23.5 rushing yards — RB, WSH @ DAL, Sun 9:25pm — at 1.86 — Projected 34. The Commanders' change-of-pace back against a line set for a bit-part.
- Andrei Iosivas over 15.5 receiving yards — WR, CIN @ HOU, Sun 6pm — at 1.95 — Projected 26. Cleared 33 last week on a similar line.
- Christian McCaffrey under 4.5 receptions — RB, MIA @ SF, Sun 9:25pm — at 2.10 — A 13-point favourite hands off in the second half. Plus money on the under.
Longshots: the published slips
The Single Game Parlays engine has fifteen slips up for the week, and the stakes are 0.1pt to 0.25pt by rule. The four the correlation model likes most against their prices, all from Sunday afternoon:
- One Passing Game, CLE @ TB, 33/1: Harold Fannin Jr. to score and over 39.5 receiving yards, Deshaun Watson over 175.5 passing yards, Jerry Jeudy over 26.5 receiving yards. Cleveland chase, and everything runs through one passing game. Correlation model 17.2%, naive 8.3%, implied 3.0%. 0.15pt.
- Second Receiver Ceiling, PIT @ NE, 13.84: Romeo Doubs to score and over 36.5 receiving yards with Drake Maye over 222.5 passing yards. Model 16.5% against 7.2% implied. 0.25pt, and the same script as the Patriots' Week 1 preview.
- Tight End Day, CIN @ HOU, 21.79: Dalton Schultz to score and over 38.5 receiving yards with C.J. Stroud over 274.5 passing yards. Model 11% against 4.6%. 0.25pt.
- One Passing Game, MIA @ SF, 18.98: George Kittle to score and over 38.5 receiving yards, Mike Evans over 48.5, Brock Purdy over 238.5. Model 12.8% against 5.3%. 0.25pt, and it pairs with the McCaffrey receptions under rather than fighting it.
- The lottery ticket: Tight End Day, SEA @ ARI, at 49.78 with Trey McBride to score, over 69.5 receiving yards and over 8.5 receptions plus Jacoby Brissett over 218.5. Model 10.8% against 2.0% implied. 0.15pt.
Staking, and the ledger
One point on four and five stars, half a point on the thinner calls and the scorers, the longshot rule on the slips, and a point on the treble. Seven singles, a treble, the Denver middle at a point each side, four scorers, three props and four slips is a full Sunday and about twelve points of exposure, which is a point or two more than last week because the card is stronger. Everything above is on the Best Bets ledger at the price quoted, and the results page will show you how it went, including the bits that did not.
Five from six last week proves nothing. A 55% bettor loses five in a row about once every hundred sequences, and a 5-1 week happens to a 50% bettor more often than you would think. Bet with money you can lose, check the injury report on Saturday, and if the Titans line moves to six and a half before kick-off, let it go.
