Thirty-six clubs go into a single league table. Each side plays eight different opponents - four at home, four away - and no fixture repeats. After eight matchdays the table decides everything: the top eight advance directly to the last 16, ninth through 24th drop into a two-legged knockout play-off in February for the remaining eight places, and the bottom twelve leave Europe altogether. There is no parachute into the Europa League.
Two betting consequences follow. First, every point carries double weight - eighth versus ninth is the difference between a month off and a February play-off tie. Second, because the field shares one table but not one fixture list, goal difference against the smaller sides matters enormously: a champion-in-waiting beating a qualifier 5-0 in January can leapfrog a rival it never faces. Expect the big sides to keep attacking at 3-0, and price the overs accordingly late in the phase.

Every Champions League fixture on the card runs through the same Statz projections model that prices our domestic boards: team strength built from underlying performance data rather than league position, blended with the market, producing a win probability for each side and a fair price to hold against the bookmakers' one. Where our number and the price disagree, that gap is published - the same vs-price column you will find on the Daily Acca sheet - and the model deliberately trusts underlying numbers over the form table, because early-season tables lie and European nights punish reputation bets.
Cross-league fixtures are where a model earns its keep. The form book cannot compare a Norwegian champion mid-season with a Premier League side three games into theirs; a strength model can, and the biggest mispricings in this competition historically sit exactly there - the seeded giant at a short price away to a qualifier who is match-sharp, and the mid-tier league winner the market has never watched. That is why the qualifiers section of the board deserves as much attention as the marquee games.
The market as of early September: PSG lead at 6.00, with Arsenal and Barcelona at 7.00, Bayern Munich at 7.00 and Real Madrid at 7.50 pressed in behind. Manchester City at 10.00 and Liverpool at 13.00 complete the front rank; Manchester United are the outsiders of the English five at 21.00, with Inter at 29.00 and Atletico Madrid at 34.00 the pick of the next tier.
Five clubs inside 7.50 is an unusually flat top of market, and it reflects the draw: almost every contender has at least two heavyweight away days, so the eight-game phase should separate them properly rather than letting one seed coast.

Beyond the front rank the board offers real cases. Napoli at 41.00 meet their biggest early rival at home and the Statz model already rates Wednesday's Arsenal visit closer than the market does. Roma at 41.00 arrive on five straight wins in all competitions, with the model backing them to win their opener in Istanbul. Como at 81.00 are the draw's quiet story - unbeaten in five domestically and made favourites by our model at home to RB Leipzig on the opening Thursday.
