The Rams run game against a Denver front leaking 157 yards a game, and a model that has Los Angeles winning but the Broncos covering. The points, the Stafford under, the scorers and the slip for Rams at Broncos.
A week after the 28-6
Sunday Night Football, 27 September, 8:20pm Eastern at Mile High, 01:20 BST on Monday. The Rams come off the 28-6 win over the Giants that landed our 55/1 slip, 390 yards of offence and 142 on the ground, and the model that trusted them through the Melbourne debacle now has them third in the forward power rankings. Denver come off a 20-13 win over Jacksonville that was uglier than the score: 15 points a game, 28th in the league, 26% on third down, 29th, and 82.5 rushing yards a game.
The series is two Rams wins, the last of them 51-14 in December 2022, and both went over. Denver have covered one of the two. Los Angeles are on six days' rest to Denver's seven.
Where the game is won
The matchup grid has one number that decides the projection: the Rams' run game against a Denver run defence allowing 157.5 yards a game, 29th in the league, is an 87% Rams edge. Kyren Williams behind a line that just ran for 142 against New York, into a front that Jacksonville and Kansas City both moved. The Rams' pass defence, allowing 168 yards a game, third in the league, gets a 68% edge over Bo Nix, and their run defence a 70% edge over a Broncos ground game ranked 27th. The only Denver edge is a slim one, 51%, for their pass defence against Matthew Stafford.
The projections: Stafford 236 yards and 1.9 touchdowns, Nix 220 yards, 1.6 touchdowns and 22 on the ground. Davante Adams remains the Rams' most efficient target on the season rate, 18 points a game. Denver are without pass rusher Jonathon Cooper, which matters against a Rams line that has allowed two sacks in two games. Puka Nacua is listed questionable with a hip on the partner fantasy sheets; the Rams depth chart has him starting.
The model's number
Rams 24.0, Broncos 21.7. Los Angeles by 2.2 and a 45.7 total, the Rams winning 56.5 times in 100. The market has Denver by two and a half at home, a 45.5 total and a home moneyline of 1.83. That is a rare shape: the model likes the road team to win, and the market has the home team as the favourite, and the two are only four and a half points apart on the spread.
Which is why the star-rated pick is the Broncos, not the Rams. Denver plus two and a half at 2.11 on Polymarket is a 50.9% call against 47.4% implied, four stars, because the model has this as a two-point Rams win and plus two and a half covers a two-point loss. The Rams moneyline is not on the card: the model's 56.5% against a market 54% is real but thin, and the star rating says so. The total is priced right, 45.7 against 45.5, and there is no bet on it. This is a points game, and the points are on Denver.
- Broncos +2.5 v the Rams — Spread, LAR @ DEN, Sun 8:20pm ET / Mon 01:20 BST — at 2.11 — Model has the Rams by 2.2. The points cover the model's own answer, at plus money.
- Rams to win — Moneyline, LAR @ DEN — at 2.20 — The model's actual answer, at a price that says the market disagrees by ten points. A quarter point, no more.
Scorers, props and the slip
The star-rated prop is Stafford under 248.5 passing yards at 1.86, five stars: projected 236 with a 61% under. It is the same idea as the Giants preview, where the same line lost by 78 yards, and the same logic: the Rams score on the ground in this projection, not through Stafford. It was wrong last week and it is still the model's number. Davante Adams to score at 2.10 is a 49.5% call and fair. The Broncos scorer board has nothing the model rates above its price.
The Single Game Parlays page has one slip, a Primetime Parlay at 6.56 built from the four likeliest props in the game at 60% to 70% each. Its legs are on the page for members; the shape is the same as last week's, which lost on one leg out of four. 0.25pt.
- Matthew Stafford under 248.5 passing yards — QB, LAR — at 1.86 — Projected 236. Lost last week on a 327-yard night; the model has not changed its mind about how the Rams score.
- Davante Adams anytime TD — WR, LAR — at 2.10 — Two touchdowns last Monday. A 49.5% call priced at 47.6% is fair rather than value; play it for the correlation with the Rams winning.
The verdict
Rams by a field goal in a game the Broncos cover. Denver plus two and a half is the bet, the Stafford under is the prop, and the Rams moneyline is a quarter-point opinion. If Nacua's hip keeps him out, the Rams' passing game thins and the Stafford under gets stronger; the run game, which is the whole projection, does not change.
