Broncos at Panthers Preview: Week 9 Sunday Picks, Odds and Projections

Published November 5, 2026 by Statz NFL.

Denver are 6-2 with the league's lowest yardage offence; Carolina are 3-4 and allow 27.6 points a game. The model has Denver by 2.2 at 46.7 against a market total of 44.5, and the Broncos' backfield is where the props are.

A 6-2 team that cannot move the chains

Denver travel to Carolina on Sunday for a 6pm UK, 1pm Eastern kick-off at Bank of America Stadium, open air, on grass. The Broncos are 6-2 and top the AFC West, 5-1 over their last six, and beat Kansas City 28-24 last week. The Panthers are 3-4 and top the NFC South, but have lost two in a row, 43-13 to Tampa Bay and then 27-19 to Green Bay, after wins over Detroit (32-26) and Philadelphia (25-14). The market has Denver by 2.5 at a total of 44.5. The full picture is on the game page.

Denver have won two of the three meetings on the series sheet, 28-14 at home in Week 8 of 2024 as 13-point favourites and 32-27 in Carolina in 2020, with Carolina taking the middle one 23-10 in 2022 when Denver were one-point favourites. Denver covered two of the three and the over landed in two, for an average total of 44.7 against this week's 44.5. The seasons point in opposite directions. Denver average 279.3 yards a game, last in the league, convert 29.7% of third downs, also last, and score 21.5 points, 22nd, yet allow 20.6, 11th, and are plus four on turnovers. Carolina score 25.4, ninth, and allow 27.6, 28th, including 140.7 rushing yards a game, 30th. The Broncos stats and Panthers stats pages have the rest.

Where the game is won

The grid is lopsided in an unusual way. Carolina passing against Denver is a 76% Panthers edge, which fits a Carolina offence that averages 281.1 passing yards, second, against a Denver pass defence that allows 246.6, 23rd. Carolina running against Denver is a 58% Panthers edge too. But Denver passing against Carolina is an 83% Panthers edge: Carolina allow 219.6 passing yards a game, eighth, and Denver throw for 186.6, 28th. The Broncos' route in is the ground, a 70% Denver edge against a Carolina run defence that is 30th at 140.7 a game, even though Denver run for 92.6, 26th. The Broncos rushing page shows who carries it.

The model has Bo Nix at 196.6 passing yards and 1.4 touchdowns, and Bryce Young at 223.6 and 1.6. Denver have a lot of defensive backs on the report: Kris Abrams-Draine (ankle), Talanoa Hufanga (ankle), Brandon Jones (hamstring), Delarrin Turner-Yell and Reese Taylor are all questionable, along with Eyioma Uwazurike (shoulder) and Marvin Mims Jr., and Gavin Ortega is out. Carolina's interior line is thin: Damien Lewis (knee), Torricelli Simpkins III (ankle) and Corey Bullock (quadricep) are questionable, as are Bobby Okereke (foot), Jaelan Phillips (hamstring) and Will Lee III (hamstring). Denver are fifth in sacks with 23 and Carolina are 28th with 11, so the offensive-line news is worth a look on the injury table and the Panthers depth chart.

The model's number

The model has Denver 24.5, Carolina 22.2, a 46.7 total, and the Broncos winning 56.6 times in 100. That is 2.2 points on the side, against 2.5 in the market, so there is nothing on the spread. The gap is on the total, 2.2 above the 44.5 line. Over 43.5 at 1.94 on Kalshi is a 53.6% call against 51.5%, two stars; under 44.5 at 1.94 on Polymarket is 49.3% against 51.5%, no stars; Carolina on the moneyline at 2.35 on Kalshi is 43.0% against 42.6%, one star. Those are leans at best, and the over is the only one with a case. It is also a case that runs against Denver's own tape, so it is a number to watch rather than a position.

Both teams' records against the line are on the Broncos ATS and Panthers ATS pages. The side and the total are for the model to show, not for us to chase; the better numbers are in the backfields.

Scorers, props and the slips

The one scorer with a gap in his favour is J.K. Dobbins at 3.50, a 36.0% call against 28.6% implied, 7.4 points, with a score in three of his last five games. Jalen Coker at 3.00 is 34.8% against 33.3%, close to priced. The rest are the other way: Chuba Hubbard at 1.83 is 49.5% against 54.6%, Tetairoa McMillan at 2.65 is 34.6% against 37.7%, Jaylen Waddle at 2.80 is 29.4% against 35.7%, and Jonah Coleman at 1.90 is 29.4% against 52.6%, a 23-point miss and the biggest on the board.

The running backs are the story. The model gives J.K. Dobbins 13.2 carries and 55.4 yards and Jonah Coleman 9.5 carries and 41.2 yards, and the lines are set the other way round. Dobbins over 31.5 rushing yards at 1.86 on bet365 is a 63.7% call against 50%, five stars, and he also clears over 9.5 carries at 2.05 (61.2% against 45.9%). Coleman under 55.5 rushing yards at 1.86 is 64.2% against 50%, five stars, and his unders on 12.5 carries, 3.5 receptions and 26.5 receiving yards all rate five stars on the same read. Chuba Hubbard under 17.5 carries at 1.83 is 63.4% against 50.9%, projected at 14.6 carries and 61.5 yards. Every one of those gaps is more than twelve points, wide enough that the model may be missing news, so check the backfield reports before staking. Elsewhere the model leans under Nix's 216.5 passing yards (196.6 projected, a 34.7% over), and over Marvin Mims Jr.'s 11.5 receiving yards (24.8 projected, though he is questionable). Those are lines without a star rating, not cards. There are no slips listed for this game.

  • J.K. Dobbins over 31.5 rushing yards — RB, DEN, Sun 6pm UK / 1pm ET — at 1.86 — Projected 55.4 yards on 13.2 carries. A wide gap: the model may be missing news. Game preview
  • Jonah Coleman under 55.5 rushing yards — RB, DEN, Sun 6pm UK / 1pm ET — at 1.86 — Projected 41.2 yards on 9.5 carries. The mirror of the Dobbins over. Game preview
  • Chuba Hubbard under 17.5 carries — RB, CAR, Sun 6pm UK / 1pm ET — at 1.83 — Projected 14.6 carries. A wide gap: the model may be missing news. Game preview

The verdict

The model has Denver by two and the market by two and a half, so the result is a pass. What the model sees is how the Broncos split the carries: Dobbins over, Coleman under, a half-point on each, and a half on Hubbard's carries under, although the Dobbins and Coleman bets are one view of one backfield and a single change in role would move both. The over 43.5 at two stars is a lean for anyone who wants a total. The news to watch is the Denver secondary and the Carolina interior line and whether Mims plays, since the model has him at 24.8 receiving yards while he is listed questionable.
