Bayern's 23-Match Unbeaten Run Is One of Only 42 That Began Last Season

Bayern Munich have not lost a Bundesliga match since 31 January. At the time of writing that is 23 matches unbeaten, the longest of the 135 runs on the active team streaks page, and it comes with 2.5 points per game.

The headline number hides a split. Of those 135 active runs of three or more matches, 42 started last season, so most long streaks are still being built. Bayern's is one of the 42. Arsenal's 18 in the Champions League is another.

This piece reads the unbeaten table as it stood after the last game, updated 1 November 2026. It separates carry-over runs from August builds, looks at what points per game says about how a run is surviving, and lists the next game for every side on the table.

The longest unbeaten runs in Europe's top leagues

A run here is the number of consecutive matches in one competition without defeat, counted back from the team's latest game. One miss ends it, and matches in other competitions do not count towards it. The page lists runs of three matches or more across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Champions League, and only for sides with a fixture still to play.

Bayern's team stats sit at the top with 23. Arsenal follow on 18, Roma on 17 and PSG on 13. Inter do not appear in the unbeaten table's top twelve, so Bayern, Arsenal, Roma, PSG and Lazio are the only sides above ten matches, with Dortmund on exactly ten. Roma's team stats show the Serie A run that began on 10 April.

Here are the top twelve of the 25 unbeaten rows the page lists.

Which runs carried over from last season

Team streaks do not reset on opening day. That is why 42 of the 135 active runs began last season, and it leaves 93 that started in this one. Promoted teams start counting from their first match in the competition.

The split is easiest to see in the 'Since' dates. Arsenal's run in the Champions League goes back to 16 September 2025, the earliest start on the table. Bayern's and PSG's began in January, Roma's in April, Dortmund's and Lazio's in May.

The runs from Bremen to Spurs in the first table are ones built since the new season began.

Runs that started before opening day

Sorted by date, the Bayern run is the oldest in the Bundesliga column, started on 31 January. Arsenal's team stats cover the Champions League run that began on 16 September 2025.

The 18 matches also come with a caveat built into the rules: Arsenal's league games do not count towards it. On the same page, Arsenal's separate Premier League run is three matches since 10 October.

Runs built since August

The newest runs are short. Aston Villa's team stats show a Premier League run of five since 19 September, and Como's team stats a Serie A run of five since 11 October.

Villa also appear lower down with a three-match Champions League run since 8 September. That is a different competition and a different count.

Unbeaten does not mean winning: points per game

An unbeaten run can be built on wins or on draws. Points per game over the run tells the two apart. Atletico Madrid's team stats show 3.0 across seven matches, a perfect return. Lazio are on 2.6, Bayern and Roma on 2.5, Villa on 2.2, Bremen on 2.1.

Spurs on 2.5 and Bayern's Champions League run on 1.5 show how much the figure varies at the shorter end. Bayern's 1.5 comes from four matches whose last five read L D W D D.

Lazio and Atletico: five wins in the last five

Atletico's last five reads W W W W W, the only unbeaten run on the page with five wins from five. Lazio's team stats show W W W W D, so four wins and a draw in the last five.

Both sit above Bayern's 2.5 on points per game, with far shorter runs behind them: 11 for Lazio and seven for Atletico.

Roma: draws holding the run together

Roma's last five is D W D W W, 2.5 points per game across 17 matches. Draws are part of that record, and the run is still alive.

Mixed form shows up elsewhere on the unbeaten table: Bremen's last five is W D D W W and Dortmund's is W D D W D, the latter with 2.4 points per game across ten matches.

The next fixtures that could end each run

The page's next-game column gives every unbeaten side a date. Nothing below is a forecast. It simply shows what each run faces, and every date reads as upcoming.

Bayern appear on the table twice, and their two runs face different opponents. The Bundesliga run goes to Mainz and Dortmund's run to Elversberg, so the Bayern v Dortmund head to head is a record rather than a fixture on this table. Dortmund's team stats cover their ten-match run.

Bayern, Roma and Arsenal: the longest runs and their games

Bayern's 23-match run travels to Mainz on Saturday 7 November. Their separate Champions League run of four goes to Atletico on Tuesday 3 November, and Bayern's team stats track both.

Roma, on 17, host Sassuolo on 7 November. Arsenal's 18 in Europe goes to Slavia Praha on Wednesday 4 November, with the Slavia Praha v Arsenal head to head available for the record between the clubs. PSG's 13 goes to Villarreal on 3 November; see the Villarreal v PSG head to head.

How to read a streak without over-reading it

The average column is taken over the current run. In the fouls market, Espanyol average 15.4 fouls a game across their 13-match 10+ fouls streak. That is the same layout as the unbeaten table, applied to a different market. The last-five boxes show each of the last five results, green where the line landed and red where it missed.

A long run says what has happened, not what will. The page's own example is Augsburg's 20 straight matches over 1.5 goals: it shows form, not probability. For the next fixture, use the Statz projections and check the odds before backing anything.

You can filter by league or minimum run length to show only runs of five or eight matches or longer. Corners and fouls streaks wait for match statistics, which can lag a day behind the result. Each list holds at most 25 teams, and a side drops off once its run is under three matches or it has no fixture left in that competition.

Form is not probability

The unbeaten table is a snapshot after the last game. Bayern's 23, Arsenal's 18 and Roma's 17 are the numbers at the time of writing, and one miss ends any of them.

To see all 135 runs, all 135 live runs sit on the team streaks page in six markets: unbeaten, both teams to score, over 1.5 goals, over 2.5 goals, 5+ corners and 10+ fouls. You can see every streak across the six markets there and filter to a single competition.

Questions

Which football team has the longest unbeaten run right now?

Bayern have the longest active unbeaten run, 23 matches in the Bundesliga since 31 January, at 2.5 points per game. Arsenal are next on 18 in the Champions League, then Roma on 17 in Serie A.

Do football streaks carry over from last season?

Yes, streaks carry over rather than resetting on opening day: 42 of the 135 active runs started last season, including Bayern's 23-match unbeaten run. Promoted teams start counting from their first match in the competition.

How many matches does an unbeaten run need to be listed?

An unbeaten run needs at least three matches to be listed, and the side must still have a fixture to play in that competition. Each list on the page holds at most 25 teams, and 135 runs are active in total.

Does a long unbeaten run mean a team will avoid defeat next?

No, a long run shows form, not probability. The page's example is Augsburg's 20 straight matches over 1.5 goals, which says what has happened, not what will. One miss ends a run, and other competitions do not count.
