The first FanTeam price changes of the season, the new weekly contests (London, the Sunday RedZone, the late-games Fumble, the two primetime games) with the model's lineups, the nine players on your season squad who are out or doubtful, and the value list for your two transfers.
The prices have started moving
FanTeam's first price changes of the season landed this week, and they are small and in the direction you would expect: Kenneth Walker III up from £19.0m to £19.2m, Jaxon Smith-Njigba from £22.0m to £22.2m, Josh Allen from £21.5m to £21.7m, Kalif Raymond from £9.5m to £9.7m; Drake Maye down from £21.0m to £20.7m and Jadarian Price from £8.5m to £8.4m. Two tenths of a million is not much, but a hot start compounds: a player who rises two tenths a week for a month costs nearly a million more by Halloween, and a manager who bought him in September has that as squad value.
The season game locked for gameweek 4 at the Steelers-Browns kick-off on Thursday, so what follows is about gameweek 5 transfers and about the weekly contests, which are new on the Statz board this week and lock on Sunday.
The weekly contests, and the model's lineups
FanTeam run five one-off contests this week alongside the season game, and the Statz optimiser now builds lineups for each. The London game, Colts at Commanders, is a six-player contest with an £80m budget, a captain at 1.5 times and a vice-captain at 1.2 times who costs 1.2 times his price, and up to five players from one club; entries from 20p to £50. The Sunday RedZone covers the twelve afternoon games with a nine-player classic lineup for £111m, three per club, £2 for a £1,750 guaranteed pool and £10 for £5,750. The Sunday Fumble is the same shape over the four late games for £100m. Sunday night and Monday night are six-player contests like London.
The optimiser's London lineup captains Jonathan Taylor with Daniel Jones as vice-captain and fills out with Josh Downs (13.4 projected), Tyler Warren (12.0) and Keenan Allen (11.1, questionable with a groin), for 101.6 projected points at £79.8m of the £80m. On the RedZone board the model's top projection is Garrett Wilson at 21.6 points for £11.2m, the best per-pound number on the slate, with Dontayvion Wicks (14.2, Philadelphia's lead receiver with DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown out) and Malik Washington (13.7) as the cheap seats. The Fumble board leads with Brock Bowers (16.4 at £10.2m), Washington again and T.J. Hockenson (13.1 at £7.5m). Sunday night is Jahmyr Gibbs at 29 projected points for £16.7m, the highest number of the week anywhere; Monday night is Bijan Robinson (21.6) and Chris Olave (19.3).
- London: Jonathan Taylor, captain — RB, IND · £16.0m · Colts at Commanders, 2:30pm UK — at £16.0m — The optimiser's captain against a run defence ranked third; the volume carries it. Jones is the vice-captain. Game preview
- RedZone: Garrett Wilson — WR, NYJ · £11.2m · 21.6 projected — at £11.2m — The best projection per pound on the twelve-game slate, in Chicago with Geno Smith throwing. Game preview
- Sunday night: Jahmyr Gibbs, captain — RB, DET · £16.7m · 29.0 projected — at £16.7m — Twenty-nine projected points against the league's worst run defence. The captain in any format that has one. Game preview
The season game: nine names to deal with
The injury sheet has not been this long. Out: Justin Jefferson (£19.1m, ankle), Baker Mayfield (£19.0m, thumb), Jayden Daniels (£18.0m, elbow), Caleb Williams (£20.6m, hamstring), Breece Hall (£18.0m, quad), DeVonta Smith (£18.0m, hamstring). On injured reserve: De'Von Achane (£18.3m, knee), A.J. Brown (£17.5m), Jayden Reed and Alec Pierce. Questionable: Josh Allen (knee), Lamar Jackson (back), Puka Nacua (hip), Nico Collins, Zay Flowers, Jaylen Waddle, DJ Moore, Ladd McConkey, Terry McLaurin, D'Andre Swift and Bucky Irving.
The rule bears repeating because this is the week it costs money: the safety net replaces a player who plays and scores nothing; a player who does not dress is a zero. Achane and Brown on injured reserve are zeros for weeks and should be sold with the first transfer available. Jefferson, Mayfield, Daniels, Williams, Hall and Smith are "out" this week and may be back next; if you own one, the question is whether you can afford a zero in gameweek 4 and a transfer in gameweek 5, and with two free transfers a week the answer is usually yes for one of them and no for two.
- Sell: De'Von Achane — RB, MIA · £18.3m · injured reserve, knee — at £18.3m — Weeks, not days. Ollie Gordon II has the backfield and costs a fraction. Game preview
- Sell: Justin Jefferson — WR, MIN · £19.1m · out, ankle — at £19.1m — A zero this week at the second-highest receiver price. If it is one week, hold; if the report says longer, Kalif Raymond at £9.7m frees £9m. Game preview
- Hold and check: Josh Allen — QB, BUF · £21.7m · questionable, knee — at £21.7m — The best quarterback on the list by projection (410 points). The gameweek has locked; the net catches a late scratch. Game preview
The value list for gameweek 5
Running back: Bhayshul Tuten at £13.0m projects 313 points, 24.1 per £1m, the best value on the whole list, and Bucky Irving at £15.0m projects 337 (22.4) with a questionable glute tag. Walker, Cook, Gibbs and Henry are all above 20 per £1m at £19m to £22m, and Cam Skattebo at £15.0m (275, 18.3) is the mid-priced option. Receiver: Kalif Raymond at £9.7m projects 247, 25.4 per £1m, still the best on the list after his rise; Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion in Cleveland at £9.2m and £9.5m both clear 19; Smith-Njigba at £22.2m projects 429 and 19.3 per £1m, which makes the most expensive receiver also good value. Tight end: Isaiah Likely at £11.7m (218, 18.7) and Trey McBride at £19.0m (332, 17.5). Quarterback: Tyler Shough at £16.1m projects 319, 19.8 per £1m, the best at the position, with Purdy (£18.4m, 332) and Deshaun Watson (£15.0m, 265) behind him. Defence: Minnesota at £8.8m (153, 17.4) has overtaken Cincinnati at £7.7m (124, 16.1).
The first byes arrive in gameweek 5. Check your nine for them before you spend a transfer on anything else, because a player on a bye is the one zero the safety net cannot touch and the one transfer you cannot avoid.
- Bhayshul Tuten — RB, JAX · £13.0m · 313 projected — at £13.0m — The best value on the list, unchanged in price while his projection rose. Game preview
- Kalif Raymond — WR, CHI · £9.7m · 247 projected — at £9.7m — Up two tenths and still the best points per pound. Buy before the next rise. Game preview
- Tyler Shough — QB, NO · £16.1m · 319 projected — at £16.1m — The best quarterback per pound. £5.6m cheaper than Allen for 90 fewer points. Game preview
