Real Madrid's corner count swings from one to 11 a game

Real Madrid look like corner bullies on paper, but Real Madrid's corner numbers this season tell a more uneven story. They win 6.3 corners a game in La Liga, the 4th most of the 20 clubs, and across all 16 games this season they average 6.4. Yet they have had 11 at home to Rayo Vallecano and just one at home to Sevilla.

That gap is the story. An average this tidy hides a count that jumps around from match to match, and it is not the Champions League alone that drives it. The figures below are from all 16 of Real Madrid's games in 2026/2027 up to and including the 7 November trip to Valencia, so they will move at the time of writing as the season goes on.

Here is where the spikes come from, where the droughts hit, and what the home, away and first-half splits add to the picture.

Real Madrid win plenty of corners and concede few

Start with the headline numbers. In La Liga, Real Madrid win 6.3 corners a game across 12 league games, the 4th most of the 20 clubs and well above the league average of 4.8. Only three sides get more, with Villarreal top on 7.3.

At the other end they give very little away. Real Madrid concede 3.8 corners a game in the league, the 4th fewest of the 20 and below that same 4.8 average. Racing Santander sit at the other extreme, conceding 7.5 a game.

Across all competitions, Real Madrid have had more than 4.5 corners in 12 of their 16 games, 75%, with eight of nine away and four of seven at home. That sounds like a team that wins a steady stream of corners every week. The game-by-game table says otherwise.

Read down the Real Madrid column and the swing jumps out: 5, 7, 6, 6, 7, 1, 9, 9, 1, 5, 11, 4. The most is 11 at home to Rayo Vallecano on 12 September, in a game with 16 corners in all. The fewest is one at home to Sevilla on 18 October, and there was another single corner away at Atletico Madrid on 20 September.

The full Real Madrid corners table carries all 16 games, and there are head to head pages for the games that stand out, including Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano head to head, Real Madrid v Inter head to head and Barcelona v Real Madrid head to head.

The spikes: Roma, Villarreal and Rayo

Five of the 12 games above brought seven or more corners for Real Madrid. The biggest crowd of them came in La Liga and in Europe alike, so there is no single competition behind the high counts.

Real Madrid against Rayo Vallecano head to head holds the season high of 11 corners, in a game that finished 4-1 and had 16 corners in total. Corners at that level are not always matched by wins, though: nine at Roma came in a 3-4 defeat.

Nine corners at Roma and at home to Villarreal

Two games sit on nine. At Roma v Real Madrid head to head in the Champions League, Real Madrid won nine to Roma's five, 14 in all, and lost 3-4. At home in La Liga, Real Madrid v Villarreal head to head produced nine to three and a 1-0 win, 12 corners in total.

Villarreal, remember, are the side that win the most corners in La Liga on average, at 7.3 a game. In this meeting they managed three. Leipzig at home and AEK Athens away both produced seven for Real Madrid, in games with totals of eight and seven.

Eleven against Rayo Vallecano

The season high came on 12 September, when Real Madrid had 11 corners at home to Rayo Vallecano and won 4-1. Rayo had five, so the game ended with 16 corners, the top of the three-to-16 range for Real Madrid's games this season.

Totals of 14, 15 and 16 appear in the Roma, Inter and Rayo games. The Inter figure is lopsided the other way: Inter had 11 corners to Real Madrid's four in a 2-1 home win on 8 September.

The droughts: Sevilla and Atletico

Now the other end. Real Madrid had one corner at home to Sevilla on 18 October, and one away at Atletico Madrid on 20 September. Both are the lowest counts in the 12-game table.

Neither game was a bad result. Real Madrid v Sevilla head to head finished 4-1 to Real Madrid, with just three corners in total (one to two). Atletico v Real Madrid head to head finished 2-1 to Real Madrid, with four corners in all (one to three).

So the corner count and the scoreline do not move together. Real Madrid had nine corners and lost at Roma, and one corner and won at Atletico. All the table can say is what happened: a low count did not stop them winning.

Home, away and first-half splits

Real Madrid corners per game barely change between home and away. Over their last 10 away games they get 6.1 a game, against 6.0 over their last 10 at home. Eight of those away games went over 4.5 corners. Across all 16 games, eight of nine away and four of seven at home have cleared that line.

The first-half and second-half split is just as even. Over the last 10 games, both sides counted, there are 4.1 corners a game before the break and 4.3 after it. Four of those 10 games had more than 4.5 first-half corners. You can set these lines yourself with the corners bet builder tool.

More corners away than at home, by a hair

The gap between 6.1 away and 6.0 at home is a tenth of a corner. Real Madrid do not need the Bernabeu to win corners. The away list includes 10 at Real Betis, eight at Espanyol and 11 on the road at no point, but nine of their 16 games have been away, and eight of the last 10 away games cleared 4.5.

In the last 10 games, Real Madrid won 3.0 corners a half before the break and 2.6 after it, while conceding 1.1 and 1.7 in the same halves.

Do the corners come before or after the break?

Real Madrid's own corners lean to the first half, 3.0 a game against 2.6 in the second. The corners they concede lean the other way, with 1.1 before the break and 1.7 after it.

In the 12-game table, Real Madrid's first-half count runs from one to five. Against Racing Santander they had five before the break, and eight of the 12 listed games had three or fewer.

What the totals say about over and under lines

Real Madrid games average 10.3 corners in all, both sides counted, over 16 games. The range runs from three to 16, and nine of the 16 went over 8.5. Every Real Madrid corner count by game is on the page, and the 12 listed games run from three (Sevilla) to 16 (Rayo Vallecano).

Over the last 10 games, Real Madrid have had over 4.5 corners in eight, over 5.5 in six and over 6.5 in four. On the conceded side, the line of 4.5 has been cleared in two of 10 games. Total corners cleared 8.5 in four of 10 over the same stretch, a lower rate than the nine of 16 across all games.
