Karachi Kings claimed a hard-fought victory in the 35th match of 44 in the Pakistan Super League 2026, beating Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets with 8 balls remaining at Gaddafi Stadium. Karachi Kings won by 5 wickets (with 8 balls remaining). The win moves Karachi off the bottom rung of the standings, though both sides remain stuck in mid-table with the playoff places tightening. For Lahore, a fourth home loss in eight matches leaves them hanging by a thread in fifth – level on points with fourth-placed Hyderabad Kingsmen but slipping on NRR.
First Innings: Lahore Post 199/6
Karachi won the toss and elected to bowl at Gaddafi – a bold call chasing 200 in Lahore. Fakhar Zaman gave the hosts a strong platform, stroking 61 off 41 (5 fours, 3 sixes, SR 149) before being caught at 134/4 in over 13.5. Mohammad Farooq fell earlier at 25/1 in over 3.3 for 18 off 15, while the real damage came from Abdullah Shafique, who blasted 62 off 36 (5 fours, 3 sixes, SR 172) before being clean bowled at 160/3 in over 16.5. That partnership between Shafique and Fakhar across the powerplay and middle overs was the spine of the innings.
The middle order wobbled – Charith Asalanka was out for a golden duck (caught at 148/4, over 15.3), but Daniel Sams provided late fireworks with 20 off 9 (SR 222) before a run-out at 184/6 in over 18.5. Sikandar Raza finished 18 not out off 12. Lahore posted 199/6 from their 20 overs.
For Karachi, Moeen Ali was the standout bowler: 4 overs, 2/26, economy 6.50, which looked exceptional in a 200-par game at Gaddafi. Ubaid Shah took 3/41 from 4 overs, though the economy told a tougher story.
Second Innings: Karachi Chase Down 200
David Warner anchored the chase superbly, staying unbeaten on 63 off 44 (9 fours, 1 six, SR 143) throughout. Early wickets fell – Jason Roy caught for 9 off 5 at 10/1 (over 1.3), then Reeza Hendricks for 10 off 9 at 39/2 (over 4.3). At 69/3 in over 8.3, Salman Agha was out for 14 off 15, and the chase looked in doubt.
Then Moeen Ali changed the game entirely. Coming in at number five, he hammered 39 off just 17 balls (1 four, 4 sixes, SR 229) in an explosive partnership with Warner before being caught at 127/4 in over 13.5. From that point the required rate was back under control. Azam Khan fell at 146/5 for 14 off 8, but Khushdil Shah came in and finished the job brutally – 44 not out off just 14 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes, SR 314). Karachi crossed the line in over 18.4, reaching 203/5 with 8 balls to spare.
Ubaid Shah (3/41) was Lahore’s best bowler but went at 10.25 an over. Shaheen Afridi went for 51 from 4 overs without a wicket on a flat surface.

Turning Point
The dismissal of Abdullah Shafique in over 16.5, clean bowled by Moeen Ali for 62 at 160/3, was the moment that capped Lahore’s innings. Up to that point Lahore were cruising for 210-plus. The wicket kept the target in reach for Karachi. Then Moeen’s own batting in the chase – 39 off 17 to swing the match from 69/3 to 127/4 at a run-a-ball pace – was the decisive blow in the other direction.
Match Context
PSL 2026 Regular Season – 35th of 44 matches. The table is tightening with the league phase winding down.
Lahore Qalandars – 5th place, 8 pts from 8 matches (W4 L4, NRR -0.503). This defeat leaves them level on points with Hyderabad Kingsmen in fourth but behind on NRR. With nine matches remaining in the competition overall and their playoff hopes finely balanced, Lahore can ill afford further home defeats.
Karachi Kings – 7th place, 6 pts from 8 matches (W3 L5, NRR -1.292). Back-to-back defeats against Peshawar and now this win changes the mood, but the NRR deficit is brutal. Realistically they need to win their remaining matches and hope for results to go their way. Moeen Ali continues to be their X-factor – when he fires with both bat and ball, Karachi are a different side.
