How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Switzerland vs Romania – T20I 2026 Match Report | Statz
Husain’s All-Round Masterclass Powers Romania to 51-Run Victory Over Switzerland
Romania won by 51 runs against Switzerland in the 106th match of 135 in the T20I 2026 season at Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground, Ilfov County, Romania. Switzerland won the toss and elected to bowl – a decision that backfired spectacularly as Romania piled on 229/3 before defending it with ease.
First Innings – Romania 229/3 (20 overs)
Romania’s innings was built on sheer aggression from the middle order after an early wobble. Ramesh Satheesan fell for a duck in the second over, but that only brought together a partnership that tore Switzerland apart.
Adrian Lascu anchored the rebuild with 48 off 34 balls, striking at 141 with six fours and a six. He put on 92 with Irfan Husain before falling in the 10th over with the score on 95.
Husain was imperious through his 64 off 36 deliveries, striking at 178 with four fours and five sixes. He set the platform for what was to come.
And what came was Ariyan Mohammed in full flow. His unbeaten 93 off just 40 balls was the innings of the match – striking at an astonishing 233, hammering seven fours and eight sixes. Mohammed came in at 95/2 and never looked back, carrying Romania to a mammoth 229/3. Avishka Iroshan chipped in with an unbeaten 11 off 9 to finish things off.
Switzerland’s bowling figures made grim reading. Malyar Stanikzai went for 37 off his two overs at an economy of 18.5. Musa Ahmadzai conceded 39 from three at 13 an over. Raihan Stanikzai claimed the best Swiss figures with 1/18 from his two overs, while Jamal Stanikzai (1/41) and Isaac Stewart (1/46) picked up the other wickets.
Second Innings – Switzerland 178/6 (20 overs)
Chasing 230, Switzerland needed a flying start but got the opposite. Numan Ahmadzai cracked two quick fours but fell for 8 off 5 in the first over. Sahil Tarakhel managed just 1 off 3 before being caught by a substitute fielder at 9/2 inside two overs. Harsha Deshan then went for a duck, leaving Switzerland reeling at 10/3 in the second over.
Diyon Johnson counter-attacked with 27 off 19 balls, including three sixes, but Husain removed him to make it 69/4 in the ninth over. The man who had battered the Swiss bowling was now dismantling their batting.
Raihan Stanikzai produced the best Swiss innings – a fighting 51 off 31 balls at a strike rate of 165, with five fours and three sixes. He put on partnerships with Malyar Stanikzai (27 off 17, four sixes) and Naim Stanikzai, but it was never enough with the required rate climbing constantly.
Husain was the chief destroyer with the ball, finishing with 3/21 from three overs at an economy of 7. Iroshan backed him up superbly with 2/28 from four overs, while Josak Khadka was economical with 1/32 from his four. Naim Stanikzai’s unbeaten 44 off 29 (five fours, one six) and Stewart’s 12 not out got Switzerland to a respectable 178/6, but Romania were never troubled.
Statz MVP – Irfan Husain
No official Man of the Match was awarded, but the Statz MVP rating – which calculates impact based on match context – gives it to Irfan Husain with a rating of 145.74. It is hard to argue. Husain scored 64 off 36 with the bat, striking at 178, then took 3/21 with the ball at an economy of 7. A genuine match-winning all-round performance that drove Romania’s dominance from start to finish.

Turning Point
Switzerland’s decision to bowl first looked questionable from the start, but the match was effectively over when Ariyan Mohammed came to the crease at 95/2 in the 10th over. From that point, he blasted 93 off 40 balls and turned a competitive total into an unreachable one. By the time the Swiss innings began, the required rate was already above 11.5 an over – and when Husain ripped through the top order to leave them 10/3 inside two overs, there was no way back.
Match Context
This was the 106th match of 135 in the T20I 2026 season. Romania’s comprehensive 51-run victory was powered by a total of 229/3 – a statement score at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground. Husain’s all-round display (64 runs and 3/21) marks him out as one to watch in this competition, while Mohammed’s 93*(40) was the kind of innings that changes a team’s momentum for matches to come.
