How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by 6 wickets – PSL 2026 Match Report
Quetta Gladiators chased down 135 to win the PSL 2026 26th Match at the National Stadium, Karachi on April 17, recording a six-wicket victory with 22 balls remaining. Usman Tariq’s miserly 3/18 dismantled the Lahore Qalandars middle order and set up a straightforward chase anchored by Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz.
Lahore Qalandars Bowled Out for 134
Lahore Qalandars won the toss and chose to bat, but never found any rhythm against a disciplined Quetta attack. The top order collapsed early – Fakhar Zaman went for 20 off 11 balls, Mohammad Naeem for 4, and Charith Asalanka for just 6. Inside five overs Lahore were 36/3, the powerplay already a write-off.
Alzarri Joseph was expensive – 2/41 from four overs – but took the key wickets of Zaman and Asalanka to set the tone. Usman Tariq was the pick of the bowlers. Operating at 4.5 runs per over, he strangled any recovery attempt and picked up Abdullah Shafique (17) and Shaheen Afridi (0) in successive wickets, leaving Lahore at 60/6 in the 11th over. That double blow was the innings in a nutshell – a middle order with nowhere to go.
Haseebullah Khan (33 off 37) provided some resistance from the lower middle order, and Usama Mir chipped in with a rapid 22 off just 7 balls at the death – three sixes in four deliveries giving the total a more respectable look. But Jahandad Khan (3/35) mopped up the tail, and Lahore were all out for 134 in 19.5 overs. Twenty-five to thirty runs short of a competitive total on this surface.
The full scorecard is available on the Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators fixture page at Statz Cricket.
Quetta Cruise Home
Quetta lost Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel cheaply – 6/1 and 11/2 inside the first three overs – as Shaheen Afridi struck early with the new ball. But Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz put the chase to bed with a third-wicket partnership of 104 from 11.3 overs that was never under pressure.
Nawaz was the aggressor – 49 from 32 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes before falling stumped off Sikandar Raza at 115/3. Rossouw was more methodical but equally effective, finishing unbeaten on 60 from 49 with five fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 122. With the target below 140, Quetta always had enough runs in the bank to absorb the early wobble.
Bevon Jacobs (14* from 6 balls, two sixes) swept up the final few in style when Dinesh Chandimal fell for 3 in the penultimate over. Quetta crossed the line with more than three overs to spare. For Quetta Gladiators, it was a professional performance from start to finish. For Lahore Qalandars, a total of 134 was never going to be enough.
Statz MVP: Usman Tariq
Usman Tariq earned the Statz MVP award with a match-high Statz Rating of 83/100. The leg-spinner was superb – 3/18 from four overs at just 4.5 runs per over – targeting the Lahore middle order when the innings needed partnership, not wickets. His three victims (Shafique, Shaheen Afridi, Sikandar Raza) were all soft dismissals that came from batters trying to force the pace against turn. He also claimed the Player of the Match award on the day. The Statz Rating combines batting impact, bowling impact and match context.
Statz Ratings – Top 5
Usman Tariq’s 83.1 led the match comfortably. Hasan Nawaz (54.6) rated second for his quickfire 49 that broke the back of the chase. Usama Mir (52.9) was the only Lahore player in the top five – his 22 off 7 at the death saved some face. Rilee Rossouw (46.7) rated fourth for his unbeaten anchor knock, ahead of Bevon Jacobs (30.3) who finished things off in style.
Turning Point
The double strike by Usman Tariq in the 10th and 11th overs – dismissing Abdullah Shafique then Shaheen Afridi in successive wickets to leave Lahore at 60/6 – was the moment the match effectively ended. From there the asking rate for Quetta was always manageable, and the top order had already gone. A total of 134 required Lahore to find 74 more from five wickets, a task that proved beyond them in the final nine overs.
Match Context
The result strengthens Quetta Gladiators’ position in the Pakistan Super League 2026 standings. For Lahore Qalandars, a batting performance that saw them lose all ten wickets in 19.5 overs will be a concern – Shaheen Afridi’s bowling attack did their job with the ball, but the failure to post 160 cost them.
