How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Durham vs Northamptonshire – T20 Blast 2026 Match Report | Statz
Parkinsons Three-For Keeps Northamptonshire Perfect as Durhams Slide Continues
Northamptonshire won by 7 runs in the 44th match of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026 at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street. This result extends Northamptonshires perfect start to four wins from four, keeping them second in the table on 16 points with a net run rate of +1.848. Durham slip to their third defeat in four matches and sit 11th on 8 points, the early-season promise rapidly fading.
First Innings – Northamptonshire 145/9 (20 overs)
Northamptonshires innings was a tale of two halves. Chris Lynn fell cheaply for 1 off 3 balls, caught at 16/1 in the second over, and when Nathan McSweeney followed for 2 (24/3 in the 4th over), the visitors were in trouble. Ricardo Vasconcelos (21 off 22) anchored the early overs before departing at 39/3 in the 6th over.
David Willey (26 off 23, 2 fours, 1 six, SR 113) and Justin Broad (36 off 32, 1 four, 2 sixes, SR 113) rebuilt with a partnership of 33 that steadied the ship. Saif Zaib injected urgency with 25 off 16 at a strike rate of 156, and the middle-order contributions pushed the total past 120.
The death overs produced a collapse – Lewis McManus (2), Calvin Harrison (9), and Broad all fell in quick succession. Ben Sanderson struck a useful unbeaten 9 off 5 at the death to push the total to 145/9.
Callum Parkinson was the standout bowler with figures of 3/19 from 4 overs at an economy of 4.75. Ben Raine chipped in with 2/21 from 4 overs, while Kasey Aldridge picked up 2/32 from his 4 overs.
Second Innings – Durham 138/8 (20 overs)
Durhams chase began disastrously. Graham Clark was caught off the very first ball for a golden duck – 0/1 in the 1st over. Alex Lees (15 off 12, 2 fours) and Ollie George Robinson (0 off 1, LBW) both fell in the 5th over with the score on 41, leaving Durham reeling at 41/3.
Ben McKinney counter-attacked brilliantly with 33 off 19 (5 fours, 1 six, SR 174), but his dismissal at 53/4 in the 8th over was the key moment. Colin Ackermann (22 off 21) continued to 77/5 in the 11th over before being caught.
Will Rhodes (31 off 33, SR 94) dug in but struggled to rotate strike at the required rate. Aldridge (8 off 10) was run out at 91/7 in the 14th over, and Raine (15 off 13) was bowled at 113/8 in the 17th over. Rhodes battled on to 135/8 before finally falling with 4 balls remaining, and Durham finished 7 runs short.
Ben Sanderson led the Northamptonshire attack with 2/26 from 4 overs at an economy of 6.50. James Sales was sharp with 2/10 from just 2 overs, and Willey, McSweeney and Zaib each picked up a wicket apiece.
Statz MVP – Callum Parkinson (113.63)
Callum Parkinson takes the Statz MVP award with a match impact rating of 113.63. His 3/19 from 4 overs was the defining spell of the match, with the Statz algorithm – which calculates impact based on match context – rating his contribution the highest in the game. With no official Man of the Match awarded, there is no disagreement to report. Parkinsons economy of 4.75 on a ground where Durham posted 138 in reply underlines how much he squeezed the home sides middle overs.

Turning Point
The dismissal of Ben McKinney in the 8th over at 53/4 was the moment the chase turned. McKinney had been counter-attacking at a strike rate of 174 and was the only Durham batter matching the required rate. His departure removed the one player who looked capable of taking the game away from Northamptonshire, and Durham never recovered the momentum.
