Cross Pond Double: TOUR Championship and British Masters Combined
Updated 25 August 2026
Two tours, one Sunday. The PGA Tour season ends at East Lake with 30 players, no cut and the FedExCup on the line. Four thousand miles east, the DP World Tour is at The Belfry for the Husqvarna British Masters, 156 players chasing a projected 16-under winning score.
We have published a card for each. This piece does something different with them: it combines them. A Cross Pond Double pairs one of our American selections with one of our European ones - both must come in, and the prices multiply.
How the maths actually works
Multiply two outright golf prices together and the number gets silly fast. Our shortest pairing returns 322/1; our longest, 1,623/1. Those are lottery tickets, and we will not pretend otherwise: two golf tournaments, roughly 190 players between them, and you need both winners.
The playable version is the each-way double. Half your stake goes on both winning, half on both simply placing - and the place terms here are generous. East Lake pays five places at 1/4 odds from a 30-man field, which is the top sixth of the smallest field of the year. The Belfry pays six places at 1/5. Combine the place legs and Cantlay with Wallace returns around 22/1 for two top finishes rather than two victories. That is a bet you can actually see landing.
One warning that applies to every double ever struck: the bookmaker's margin compounds along with the odds. A double is only worth striking when you rate both legs on their own merits - never as a way to make two weak opinions into one big price. If you want the longer version of that argument, our golf accumulator guide covers it.

Struck: Cantlay + Wallace, 0.25pt each-way
322/1 the win, 22/1 the places - and this one is on. We have struck it to 0.25pt each-way: a quarter-point on both men winning their tournaments, a quarter-point on both simply finishing in the frame. Small stakes are the whole point at these prices - a quarter-point returns 80pts if the win half lands. These are the two anchors of our respective cards, backed by the same argument on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
Patrick Cantlay is 1st in the East Lake field for strokes gained on approach over his last 16 rounds, and his record at the venue reads T2, T17, 5th, T7 and a win in 2021. Matt Wallace is our model's outright number one at The Belfry, rated at 1.70 times the de-vigged market price, with the fifth-best around-the-green numbers in the field over the same window. Neither is a hunch, and each stands as a single bet on its own card. That is the only honest reason to double them.
Struck: Hovland + Armitage, 0.1pt win
And a tenth of a point of pure mischief at 1,623/1. Viktor Hovland won at East Lake in 2023 and arrives 7th in that field on form; Marcus Armitage is 3rd in the British Masters field for putting over his last 16 rounds and our model rates him at more than twice his market price. We have taken the win-only version at 0.1pt - which still returns 162pts if it lands, and if it ever does you will hear about it from us for years.
The Cross Pond Ledger
These are real bets and we are tracking them, week by week, in their own ledger. They are deliberately kept out of the main tipster record - the six individual selections are already staked and settled there, and counting the same opinions twice would flatter our returns. So the doubles run on a separate bank, with their own running total, published here every week we have cards on both tours.
| Week | Double | Stake | Price | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TOUR Championship / British Masters | Cantlay + Wallace | 0.25pt EW | 322/1 (22/1 places) | Pending |
| TOUR Championship / British Masters | Hovland + Armitage | 0.1pt win | 1623/1 | Pending |
Running record: 2 struck, 0 landed, 0.6pts staked. That is the honest starting position, and we expect it to sit there for a while - a cross-tour double is a once-or-twice-a-season event, not a weekly income stream. Stakes stay at a quarter-point or a tenth for exactly that reason - you do not fund a season on 300/1 shots. But the prices are what they are, the downside is trivial, and when one of these does come in we will be insufferable about it.
Before you strike your own
Two things to know. First, the DP World Tour prices above come from an aggregated feed rather than a single bookmaker - the market on that side runs a wide overround, so check the price at your own book before staking, and expect some variation. The PGA prices are best available across bet365, BoyleSports, Ladbrokes and Coral.
Second, keep the stakes proportionate. Every double on this ledger is struck at 0.25pt or 0.1pt - a double is a small-stake, big-price bet by design, and the singles are where the serious money goes. Full reasoning for every selection is in the TOUR Championship preview, and you can follow both events live on the East Lake hub.
