Year by Year Breakdown
2016 – Islamabad United
Islamabad United won the inaugural PSL title in 2016. A historic moment for Pakistani franchise cricket. They set the benchmark for how to build a T20 squad in this competition.
2017 – Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi took the 2017 crown. The only team from Peshawar to win the PSL, and it remains their sole title. A passionate fanbase and a memorable campaign.
2018 – Islamabad United
Islamabad back-to-back – sort of. Two titles in three years established them as early PSL royalty. Their mix of international overseas signings and local Pakistan talent was the template.
2019 – Quetta Gladiators
Quetta Gladiators finally delivered on their potential in 2019. They’d reached finals before and come up short. 2019 was when it all clicked.
2020 – Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings won their only PSL title in 2020, a season played partly outside Pakistan due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first and only title for cricket’s most populated city franchise.
2021, 2022, 2023 – Lahore Qalandars
This is where the history books get rewritten. Lahore had been notorious underachievers in the early PSL years. Then they flipped the script completely – three consecutive titles from 2021 to 2023.
The core of that dynasty? Shaheen Afridi with the ball and a settled batting lineup. They became the most feared team in the PSL.
2024 – Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans ended Lahore’s run in 2024. A fully deserved title from a team built around Mohammad Rizwan and a well-balanced squad. It showed the PSL isn’t a one-team competition.
2025 – Lahore Qalandars
Lahore came back. Fourth title. They reclaimed the crown in 2025 with another clinical campaign. Shaheen Afridi took 19 wickets – the most of any bowler in PSL 2025, per Statz data. Fakhar Zaman hit 439 runs at the top. The formula works.
PSL Title Tally

What the History Tells You About PSL 2026 Betting
A few things stand out from the winners list that are directly relevant to betting in 2026.
Lahore are the team to beat
Four titles is not a fluke. Lahore Qalandars have a structural advantage – they retain their best players, they know their system, and Shaheen Afridi is the best bowler in PSL cricket. They go into 2026 as defending champions and clear favourites. Check the Lahore Qalandars team page on Statz for current squad and data.
Every champion has been one of the six established sides
No expansion team has ever won the PSL. Hyderabad Kingsmen and Pindiz are walking into a competition with established, experienced squads against them. History says fade the new teams in the outright market.
Multan bounced back before
Multan won in 2024, lost in 2025. That’s the cycle of competition. Don’t write them off for 2026 – Rizwan is still a world-class anchor and the squad has the depth to go again.
Islamabad have history on their side
Two PSL titles and consistent top-four finishes. Sahibzada Farhan was the highest scorer in PSL 2025 with 449 runs. If there’s a value alternative to Lahore in the outright market, Islamabad is the team.
