How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Kent vs Hampshire – T20 Blast 2026 Match Report | Statz
Kent Cruise Past Hampshire by 7 Wickets as Billings Blitz Overpowers Vince Masterclass
Kent won by 7 wickets with 8 balls remaining in match 67 of the T20 Blast 2026 at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury on June 28. Despite James Vince‘s stunning 84 off 46 for Hampshire, Kent chased down 177 thanks to Grant Stewart‘s 4/32 and Sam Billings‘ explosive 50 not out off 21 balls.
First Innings – Hampshire 176/6 (20 overs)
Kent won the toss and inserted Hampshire, but that decision looked questionable early on as James Vince took centre stage. The Hampshire captain smashed 84 off 46 balls (12 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 183, carrying the innings almost single-handedly.
Vince put on 89 for the first wicket with Toby Albert (16 off 19), who played the anchor role before falling at 89/1 in the 9th over. Joe Weatherley (24 off 16, 1 four, 1 six) joined Vince and kept the runs flowing, but when Vince was clean bowled at 119/2 in the 13th over, Hampshire lost their driving force.
Grant Stewart was magnificent for Kent, returning 4/32 from his 4 overs to rip through Hampshire’s middle and lower order. Hilton Cartwright (3 off 7) struggled at 142/4, and despite useful cameos from Ben Mayes (15 off 10) and James Fuller (10 not out off 5), Hampshire could only manage 176/6 – a total that looked under par given Vince’s brilliance.
Keith Dudgeon (3-1-20-0) was tidy with the new ball, while Joe Denly (3-0-23-1) contributed a useful wicket in the middle overs.
Second Innings – Kent 177/3 (18.4 overs)
Daniel Bell-Drummond set the tone from the start of the chase, crashing 54 off 34 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 159. He put on 95 for the opening stand with Harry Finch (45 off 43, 4 fours), who provided the ideal foil with a composed anchor innings.
Bell-Drummond fell at 95/1 in the 11th over, and Zak Crawley (4 off 8) was bowled shortly after at 101/2 in the 13th over. Hampshire had a sniff, but it lasted approximately three overs.
Sam Billings walked in and took the game away in brutal fashion. The Kent wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 50 off just 21 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) at a staggering strike rate of 238. Together with Finch and then Joe Denly (11 not out off 6, 1 six), Billings ensured Kent reached the target with 8 balls to spare.
Chris Wood (4-0-33-2) was the pick of Hampshire’s bowlers, while Liam Dawson (4-0-33-1) also took a wicket. Sonny Baker (3.4-0-43-0) had a day to forget.
Statz MVP – James Vince (106.12)
James Vince takes the Statz MVP award with a remarkable match impact rating of 106.12 – one of the highest ratings of the T20 Blast season. His 84 off 46 was head and shoulders above every other batting performance in the match, and despite Hampshire losing, his dominance was so complete that his rating exceeded the standard 0-100 scale. The Statz MI rating calculates impact based on match context, and Vince’s innings was simply that good. No official Man of the Match was awarded for this fixture.

Turning Point
The dismissal of James Vince at 119/2 in the 13th over was the moment this match swung decisively. Vince had scored 84 of Hampshire’s 119 runs at that point – he was the innings. After he was clean bowled, Hampshire limped from 119/2 to 176/6, adding just 57 runs from the remaining 7.4 overs while losing 4 wickets. Grant Stewart picked up key scalps as Hampshire’s batting folded without their talisman. What had looked like a 200+ total became a very chaseable 176.
