Yorkshire vs Lancashire – T20 Blast 2026 Report | Statz
Roses Demolition: Yorkshire Hammer Lancashire by 106 Runs at Headingley
Yorkshire won by 106 runs. That’s the headline from this Roses derby at Headingley – match 43 of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026 – and it barely does justice to the scale of Lancashire’s humiliation. Full scorecard and Statz ratings on Statz Cricket.
The War of the Roses has produced some one-sided encounters over the years, but this was emphatic even by those standards. Yorkshire posted 213/7 then bowled Lancashire out for 107 in 14.3 overs. A full-scale demolition job at fortress Headingley.
Yorkshire pile on 213/7 – Bairstow the anchor, Wharton the finisher
Lancashire won the toss and chose to bowl. It looked a reasonable call for about five minutes.
Adam Lyth set the tone immediately with a blistering 20 off 7 balls – three fours and a six – before departing at 30-1 in the third over. That early aggression put Lancashire on the back foot, and they never recovered.
Jonny Bairstow then took control with a superb 73 off 44 balls, smashing seven fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 166. Bairstow anchored the innings through the middle overs, putting on 105 with William Luxton (34 off 28) to take Yorkshire to 135 before both fell in quick succession.
Moeen Ali came and went for a duck, bowled first ball by Thomas Aspinwall, but the damage was already done. James Wharton lit up the death overs with an unbeaten 35 off just 16 balls – two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 219 – while Matthew Revis chipped in with 23 off 13 and Andrew Tye clubbed 16 off 8. Yorkshire plundered 78 off the last five overs to post a massive 213/7.
Tom Hartley was the pick of Lancashire’s bowlers with 2/26 from his four overs at an economy of 6.5, while Aspinwall grabbed 3/32 but went at nearly 11 an over. Saqib Mahmood was taken apart for 60 off four overs.
Lancashire collapse – Moeen and Chohan rip through the order
Chasing 214 was always going to be a tough ask. Lancashire made it look impossible.
Keaton Jennings fell for 1 in the first over, bowled by Hasan Ali, and the rot set in immediately. Matthew Hurst made just 2 before being bowled, and when Marcus Harris was cleaned up for 14 at 27-3, Lancashire were already in deep trouble.
Moeen Ali was the chief destroyer. The off-spinner returned figures of 4-0-16-3 at an economy of just 4 – utterly suffocating Lancashire’s middle order. He turned the ball sharply and gave the batters absolutely nothing to work with.
Liam Livingstone fought hard with 44 off 30 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes, but he was a lone warrior. Ben McDermott managed 16 off 16 and nobody else passed 10.
Then Jafer Chohan came on and cleaned up the tail with devastating efficiency. The left-arm spinner finished with 4/17 from 2.3 overs – including three clean bowled dismissals – as Lancashire were skittled for 107 in 14.3 overs. Six of the ten wickets fell bowled. It was a capitulation.
Statz MVP: Moeen Ali (Statz Rating: 112.45)
Moeen Ali scored a duck with the bat but his bowling performance was the most impactful contribution of the match. His Statz Rating of 112.45 – which calculates impact based on match context – reflects the stranglehold he put on Lancashire’s chase. Figures of 3/16 from four overs at an economy of 4 in a T20 are outstanding. He broke the backbone of the innings when Lancashire needed to attack, and his three wickets came at crucial moments to deny any momentum.
Top 5 Statz Ratings

Turning Point: Lancashire’s Top Order Folds Inside the Powerplay
Lancashire’s hopes evaporated in the first three overs of the chase. Jennings bowled for 1 in the first over (11-1 after 0.6 overs), Hurst bowled for 2 at 17-2 (2.1 overs), and Harris cleaned up for 14 at 27-3 (3.1 overs). Three wickets in 19 balls, all bowled – and a required rate already climbing past 12 an over. The chase was effectively over before the powerplay ended. From there, only Livingstone’s counter-attack delayed the inevitable.
Match Context: Roses Bragging Rights Sealed
Yorkshire move to 3rd in the North Group with 4 wins from 5 matches (16 points) and a net run rate of +1.497 – this 106-run hammering doing those numbers no harm at all. They look a serious outfit in this year’s Blast.
Lancashire slip to 17th with just 1 win from 4 matches (4 points) and a net run rate of -1.607. That NRR took a battering tonight. The Red Rose need results quickly, and getting demolished in a Roses derby is about the worst way to build momentum.
