Warwickshire vs Somerset – T20 Blast 2026 Match Report | Statz
Somerset won by 7 wickets (with 10 balls remaining) against Warwickshire in the 14th match of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. James Rew produced a stunning 93 off 48 (SR 194) to chase down what looked a challenging 190 with time to spare.
First Innings – Warwickshire 189/5 (20 overs)
Alex Davies (4 off 7) fell cheaply at 31/1 in the 4th over, but Robert Yates (42 off 25, SR 168) got Warwickshire moving with three boundaries and a six. He fell at 60/2 in the 8th over, and Beau Webster (41 off 30, SR 137) kept things ticking through the middle overs alongside Sam Hain (52 off 35, SR 149).
The death overs belonged to Ed Barnard, who smashed 28 off just 11 balls (SR 255) to give Warwickshire real late momentum. Hain and Barnard’s stand pushed the score from 105/3 to 180/5, and with Chris Woakes hitting 5 off 2 at the end, Warwickshire posted a formidable 189/5.
Craig Overton (2/40 from 4 overs) and Lewis Gregory (1/41) were the Somerset wicket-takers, while Jake Ball (1/31) and Daniel Sams (0/34) conceded at over 8.50 an over.
Second Innings – Somerset 193/3 (18.2 overs)
Will Smeed (12 off 9) fell at 24/1, but Tom Banton (47 off 26, SR 181) and Rew launched a devastating counter-attack. Their second-wicket stand of 56 came at nearly 10 an over, and when Banton was run out at 80/2 in the 9th over, Rew simply accelerated.
His 93 off 48 included boundaries at will, striking at 194 throughout. Tom Abell (35 not out off 26, SR 135) provided the perfect foil, and together they put on 107 for the third wicket. Rew fell at 187/3 in the 18th over, just 3 runs short of what would have been a memorable century, but Thomas Rew (1 not out) saw Somerset home.
Warwickshire’s bowlers had no answer. Oliver Hannon-Dalby (1/31) and Usman Tariq (1/40) took wickets, but the economy rates across the board told the story – nobody went below 8.75 an over.
