Middlesex vs Surrey – T20 Blast 2026 Match Report | Statz
Surrey won by 6 wickets (with 9 balls remaining) against Middlesex in the 11th match of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026 at Lord’s, London. Sam Curran anchored the chase with an unbeaten 71 off 47, guiding Surrey home after early wobbles.
First Innings – Middlesex 143/8 (20 overs)
Max Holden (23 off 19) and Adam Rossington (6 off 13) put on 37 before both fell in quick succession. Leus du Plooy went for a duck at 37/3, and Middlesex found themselves 50/4 when Caleb Falconer (4 off 9) departed in the 9th over.
Josh de Caires (16 off 15) and Ryan Higgins (13 off 16) added some stability, but it was left to Luke Hollman (35 not out off 28) and Eathan Bosch (31 off 18, SR 172) to rescue the innings with a 53-run eighth-wicket partnership that pushed the total to a competitive 143/8.
Yousef Majid was Surrey’s best bowler with 2/25 from 4 overs (economy 6.25), while Jordan Clark (1/16, economy 5.33) and Reece Topley (2/39) also made key contributions.
Second Innings – Surrey 144/4 (18.3 overs)
Surrey’s chase stuttered early. Adam Thomas (12 off 17) fell at 16/1, and Jason Roy struggled badly, managing just 2 off 13 before being bowled at 18/2. Ollie Pope made 9 before being caught at 42/3, leaving Surrey 56/4 when Daniel Lawrence (7 off 5) fell in the 11th over.
Curran took charge from there. His unbeaten 71 off 47 (SR 151) was measured and authoritative, and Laurie Evans (34 not out off 21, SR 162) joined him to seal the chase with an unbroken 88-run fifth-wicket partnership. For Middlesex, Noah Cornwell (1/22, economy 5.50) and Tom Helm (2/24) bowled well, but Bosch’s 0/52 from 4 overs was expensive.

Sam Curran earned a Statz rating of 96 for his match-winning 71 not out. His impact, which calculates impact based on match context, reflected how he rescued Surrey from 56/4 and chased down the target with time to spare. No official Man of the Match was awarded.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Sam Curran (SUR) – 95.54 – 71* off 47 (SR 151). Rescued the chase from 56/4 with an unbeaten masterclass.
- Luke Hollman (MID) – 94.65 – 35* off 28 batting plus 1/26 bowling. Kept Middlesex competitive.
- Eathan Bosch (MID) – 68.80 – 31 off 18 with the bat, though 0/52 bowling offset his contribution.
- Laurie Evans (SUR) – 63.42 – 34* off 21 (SR 162). Finished the job alongside Curran.

Turning Point
Despite Surrey’s poor start at 56/4, the turning point was actually Middlesex’s failure to capitalise. Hollman and Bosch’s late rally only reached 143 – a total that left room for a quality batter to chase. When Curran and Evans came together at 56/4 in the 11th over, the required rate was still under 10 an over. Had Middlesex posted even 160, the outcome might have been different.
Match Context
This was the 11th match of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026. Surrey sit 1st in the South Group (W1 L0, 4 pts). Middlesex are 13th (W0 L1, 0 pts) after an opening-day defeat at Lord’s. Early days in the Blast, but Surrey’s overseas firepower is already looking formidable.
