Shots on target is one of the sharpest player markets. It rewards knowing who tests the keeper most and how the matchup projects. This guide covers "1+ shots on target" betting and the live Statz SOT data.
A shot on target is any attempt that either goes into the goal or would have gone in but for a save by the goalkeeper. Shots that hit the woodwork and do not go in are not counted. Shots blocked by an outfield player are not counted either.
It depends on the player and the price. For elite attackers who hit 1+ SOT in most appearances, the question is whether the odds offer enough value. Use Statz Player Props to compare model probability against implied odds.
Shots include all attempts at goal — on target, off target, and blocked. Shots on target only count attempts that would have entered the goal if not for a save, or that did result in a goal.
On Statz, go to any team's page and click the Shots on Target tab. You'll see every player's SOT total, appearances, 1+ SOT hit rate, last-6 form and current bookmaker odds.
In many cases, yes. A player's probability of hitting 1+ SOT is significantly higher than scoring a goal, because SOT removes goalkeeper and finishing variance. The odds are shorter but the hit rate is higher.
