Corales Puntacana Championship 2026 Betting Preview – Three Picks for the Dominican Republic

The Corales Puntacana Championship returns to its stunning Caribbean home this week as 157 players tee it up at Puntacana Resort’s Corales Golf Course. While the golfing world’s eyes are fixed on The Open at Royal Birkdale, this alternate event offers a wide-open field and serious each-way value for bettors willing to look south.

Tom Fazio’s coastal design plays 7,670 yards at par 72 with GN-1 Bermudagrass greens and dramatic ocean-side holes down the stretch. The $4m purse draws a competitive but beatable field, and with no clear dominant favourite, the market is ripe for a value play.

What Does It Take to Win at Corales?

Scoring varies wildly here. Billy Horschel ran away with it at -23 in 2024, but Garrick Higgo needed just -14 to win last year. The Statz model projects a winning score of -12 this time around, with the cut falling at -2. Conditions in Punta Cana can be unpredictable – wind off the Caribbean shifts the difficulty from day to day.

Bermudagrass greens demand feel and touch on the putting surfaces. Ball-strikers who can handle grain and pace reads tend to rise here. Past champions – Higgo, Horschel, Matt Wallace, Chad Ramey – all share one trait: they made putts when it mattered. This is not a bomber’s paradise. Accuracy into greens and short-game quality separate contenders from the pack.

Who Is Trending Right Now?

The Statz Find Me a Winner tool highlights some hot names this week. Manuel Elvira sits at form rank 1 in the entire field with a trending SG of +2.40 over his last 16 rounds. Blades Brown ranks third on current form with a trending SG of +1.69 and improving. Christiaan Bezuidenhout is trending at +0.99 with an upward trajectory, while Alejandro Del Rey has been quietly climbing the form charts at +0.78.

Selection 1 – Christiaan Bezuidenhout 22/1 EW (bet365)

The South African is exactly the kind of player who thrives in this field. Statz has him ranked 3rd in their projections model with a 3.6% win probability and 15.3% top-10 chance – figures that make 22/1 look generous. He sits 5th on the Find Me a Winner table with a value score of +79.8 and his trending SG of +0.99 is ticking upward.

Bezuidenhout’s game is built for Bermudagrass. He grew up on it in South Africa, and his silky putting stroke handles grain better than most in this field. Form rank 7 in a 157-player field puts him right in the mix. At 22/1 each-way with five places, he offers a solid anchor for the card.

Selection 2 – Rico Hoey 30/1 EW (bet365)

The Statz model absolutely loves Rico Hoey this week. He ranks 2nd in projections with the highest win probability in the field at 4.0% and a 15.8% top-10 chance. Those numbers at 30/1 represent clear value.

Hoey knows this course too – two previous appearances with an average finish of 22.5, and course rank 12. That familiarity matters at a venue where local knowledge of wind patterns and green speeds can save shots. His trending SG of +0.59 is not the flashiest, but the model sees something deeper in his overall game that fits the demands here. Trust the projections on this one.

Selection 3 – Blades Brown 25/1 EW (bet365)

The 20-year-old is making serious noise on the PGA Tour and the FMAW tool has him ranked 2nd in the field with a value score of +88.1. That is the second-highest value score in the entire field, and it is driven by elite current form – rank 3 with a trending SG of +1.69 that is still climbing.

Brown’s price has shortened as the market catches on to his talent, but 25/1 still offers each-way value in a field of this quality. He is fearless on the greens and attacks pins without hesitation – exactly the approach that works at a scoring-friendly venue like Corales. The trajectory is pointing one way.

Longshot – Patrick Fishburn 60/1 EW (bet365)

The Statz Pick of the week, and for good reason. Fishburn is ranked 5th in the projections model with a 3.1% win probability and 14.2% top-10 chance at odds of 60/1. That gives him a +1.5% edge over his market price – the biggest model-market discrepancy in the field.

This is a player the market is underrating. The model projects him to score -11, which would put him right in top-10 contention based on historical winning totals. At 60/1 each-way with five places, the risk-reward is exactly what you want from a longshot.
