SRH vs RR – IPL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Rajasthan Royals won by 47 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 72nd match of 74 in the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. Vaibhav Suryavanshi‘s astonishing 97 off just 29 balls powered Rajasthan Royals to a mammoth 243/8, before their bowlers held firm to bowl SRH out for 196 in 19.2 overs. With just two league games remaining, this win keeps RR’s playoff push alive on 16 points, while SRH stay third on 18 points with their league campaign complete.
First Innings – Rajasthan Royals 243/8 (20 overs)
SRH won the toss and elected to bowl, but that decision backfired spectacularly. Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced one of the great IPL innings – 97 off 29 balls with 5 fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of 334. He and Yashasvi Jaiswal put on 125 for the first wicket inside 7.6 overs before Suryavanshi fell caught, agonisingly three short of a century.
Dhruv Jurel picked up where Suryavanshi left off, smashing 50 off 21 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 238. The partnership between Jaiswal (29 off 29) and Jurel added 55 runs before Jaiswal fell at 137/2 in the 11th over. Riyan Parag contributed a quickfire 26 off 12 at the death as RR posted 243/8.
For SRH, Praful Hinge was the pick of the bowlers with 3/54 from his four overs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy was the most economical with 1/12 from two overs at an economy of 6.00. Pat Cummins had a day to forget – 0/64 from four overs at an economy of 16.00.
Second Innings – Sunrisers Hyderabad 196 all out (19.2 overs)
The chase of 244 began disastrously for SRH. Abhishek Sharma fell for a second-ball duck, caught off the bowling in the first over to leave SRH 0/1. Ishan Kishan counterattacked brilliantly with 33 off just 11 balls at a strike rate of 300, smashing 3 fours and 3 sixes, but his dismissal at 51/2 in the third over left SRH needing too much too quickly.
Ravichandran Smaran managed just 1 off 4 before falling at 52/3, and Travis Head was bowled for 17 off 8 at 57/4 in the fifth over. Heinrich Klaasen‘s departure for 18 off 10, lbw at 81/5 in the seventh over, effectively ended any hope of an SRH comeback.
Nitish Kumar Reddy fought hard with 38 off 20 at a strike rate of 190, adding 56 with Salil Arora (35 off 21) for the sixth wicket, but the required rate was always out of reach. Jofra Archer claimed 3/58 from four overs, while Ravindra Jadeja was excellent with 2/21 from three overs at an economy of 7.00. Sushant Mishra and Nandre Burger chipped in with two wickets apiece as SRH were bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs.
Statz MVP
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the Statz MVP with a match impact rating of 158.39 out of 100. The 17-year-old’s 97 off 29 balls – 12 sixes at a strike rate of 334 – was one of the most devastating innings in IPL history. Statz calculates impact based on match context, and Suryavanshi’s contribution was so dominant it broke the scale. The official Player of the Match agrees – Suryavanshi took that award too.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Vaibhav Suryavanshi (RR) – 158.39 – 97 off 29 balls with 12 sixes. Utterly destructive from ball one, set the platform for everything.
- Nitish Kumar Reddy (SRH) – 98.81 – The best all-round performance in a losing cause. 38 off 20 with the bat and 1/12 from two overs at economy 6.00 with the ball.
- Dhruv Jurel (RR) – 81.41 – Continued the carnage after Suryavanshi’s departure with 50 off 21, including 5 fours and 3 sixes.
- Ishan Kishan (SRH) – 76.83 – Explosive counterattack of 33 off 11 at SR 300 gave SRH brief hope before falling in the third over.
- Praful Hinge (SRH) – 71.44 – Took 3/54 to be SRH’s leading wicket-taker, though conceded at 13.50 an over in the onslaught.
Turning Point
Heinrich Klaasen’s dismissal at 81/5 in the seventh over, trapped lbw, was the moment this match was put to bed. With all five recognised SRH batters back in the shed inside seven overs chasing 244, the required rate ballooned past 16 an over. The carnage at the top – Abhishek Sharma’s second-ball duck, then three wickets in the space of 12 balls between overs three and five – had already tilted the match, but Klaasen was the last man who could have turned the chase into a contest.

This was the 72nd match of 74 in the IPL 2026 regular season. SRH finish their league campaign in 3rd place on 18 points (W9 L5, NRR +0.524) and qualify for the playoffs.
