- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
MI vs Lucknow Super Giants – IPL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Ryan Rickelton Fires Mumbai Indians to Thrilling Chase Win Over Lucknow Super Giants
Mumbai Indians beat Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining) at Wankhede Stadium on Monday, the 47th match of 74 in the IPL 2026 season. Both sides came in rooted to the bottom two of the table – MI 9th, LSG 10th – making this a must-win clash for two teams already in trouble. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton put on 143 for the first wicket to set up a chase of 229 that MI completed with something to spare, climbing to 4 points from 9. For LSG, it is now six losses from eight matches and their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.
First Innings – Lucknow Super Giants: 228/5 (20 overs)
LSG got off to a flying start through Josh Inglis, who smashed 13 off 5 balls at a strike rate of 260 before holing out at 29/1 in over 2.3. That brought Nicholas Pooran to the crease – and he was devastating. Pooran blasted 63 off just 21 balls (SR 300) with 8 sixes, dismantling the MI attack through the powerplay and into the middle overs. He was dismissed at 123/2 in over 8.1, giving way before he could do more damage.
Mitchell Marsh made 44 off 25 at the other end and was removed almost immediately after Pooran – the scorecard read 125/3 in over 8.5 as MI clawed two wickets back in four balls. Rishabh Pant (15 off 10) came and went at 148/4 (over 10.4), and Akshat Raghuwanshi was gone for 11 off 7 at 160/5 (over 12.1). But Aiden Markram (31* off 25) and Himmat Singh (40* off 31) steered LSG to a competitive 228/5.
For MI, Corbin Bosch was the pick of the bowlers with 2/20 from 2 overs. Raghu Sharma took 1/36 from 4 overs (Econ 9.00), while AM Ghazanfar picked up 1/50 from 4. Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar both went wicketless in expensive spells.
Second Innings – Mumbai Indians: 229/4 (18.4 overs)
MI won the toss and chose to bowl, and they backed themselves to chase – and they did it comfortably. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma put on a match-winning opening stand, both playing with extraordinary freedom on their home ground. Rickelton went first – 83 off 32 balls (SR 259, 6 fours, 8 sixes) before being caught at 143/1 in over 10.5. Rohit followed for 84 off 44 (SR 191, 6 fours, 7 sixes) at 177/2 in over 13.6. Together they took MI from 0 to 177 in just under 14 overs.
Tilak Varma came in and struggled (11 off 13, SR 85), departing at 189/3 in over 15.3. Suryakumar Yadav hit 12 off 7 and fell at 213/4 (over 17.4) but by then the game was as good as won. Naman Dhir (23* off 12) and Will Jacks (10* off 4) finished the job with 8 balls to spare.
For LSG, Manimaran Siddharth was the standout with 2/47 from 4 overs. Mohammed Shami took 1/53 and Mohsin Khan 1/47, but neither could stem the flow. Avesh Khan conceded 56 from 3.4 overs without a wicket.
Statz MVP – Ryan Rickelton (126.61)
Ryan Rickelton takes the Statz MVP award with a rating of 126.61, calculated based on match context. His 83 off 32 at the top of the chase – at a time when MI needed to get after it immediately – was exactly that kind of innings. Eight sixes at Wankhede, 259 strike rate, 193 Dream11 points. The official MoM went the same way – no argument from Statz on this one.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Ryan Rickelton (MI) – 126.61 | 83 off 32, SR 259, 8 sixes in a match-winning chase
- Nicholas Pooran (LSG) – 113.6 | 63 off 21, SR 300 – the most destructive innings of the match
- Rohit Sharma (MI) – 85.85 | 84 off 44, SR 191 – gave Rickelton the perfect platform
- Manimaran Siddharth (LSG) – 61.61 | 2/47 from 4 overs in a 229-target chase – the pick of the bowlers
- Corbin Bosch (MI) – 44.99 | 2/20 from 2 overs, the most economical MI bowler in the powerplay
Turning Point
Nicholas Pooran dismissed, over 8.1, score 123/2, bowled by AM Ghazanfar. Pooran had made 63 off 21 balls and was on the verge of turning a good LSG score into an unassailable one. His exit – and Marshs dismissal four balls later – saw LSG lose 3 wickets for 37 runs from a position of dominance. Had Pooran batted to 15 overs, LSG could have been chasing 260+. Instead, the innings stalled and 228 proved just about short enough.
Match Context
This was the 47th match of 74 in the IPL 2026 Regular Season. Mumbai Indians now sit 9th on 4 points from 9 matches (W2, L7, NRR -0.803) – they are mathematically still in it but need something close to a perfect run. Lucknow Super Giants drop to 10th – 4 points from 8 (W2, L6, NRR -1.106) – a worse position given they have played fewer games. Both sides face an enormous climb to reach the top 4. At the top, Punjab Kings lead on 13 points, with RCB, SRH and RR all on 12.
