Peshawar Zalmi vs Hyderabad Kingsmen – PSL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Peshawar Zalmi won by 5 wickets (with 28 balls remaining) in the 44th and final match of 44 in the PSL 2026 Regular Season at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The result rubber-stamps Peshawar Zalmi as league leaders going into the playoffs with 17 points from 10 games (W8 L1), their dominant campaign crowned by a performance that was utterly one-sided. For Hyderabad Kingsmen, it is a fifth defeat in 10 and confirms them in 4th – still in the playoffs but on the back of a limp final league showing.
First Innings – Hyderabad Kingsmen 129 all out (18 overs)
Hyderabad Kingsmen were undone by Aaron Hardie before the innings was halfway through. The Australian seamer took the wicket of Maaz Sadaqat (11 off 6) early, leaving HK at 16/1 in over 1.2. Marnus Labuschagne then made a bright start with 20 off 12 (3 fours, 1 six) but was caught at 51/2 in 4.4 overs.
Saim Ayub was the lone resistance – 54 off 50 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes) in a determined if below-par knock. After HK slipped to 72/6 in 7.1 overs following a middle-order collapse – Usman Khan (8 off 6, LBW in over 6.3), Irfan Khan run out at 72/5 in 6.6, Glenn Maxwell duck in 7.1 – Ayub held the innings together. He was finally caught at 123/9 in 17.1 overs, with the side bowled out for 129 in 18 overs.
Aaron Hardie led the bowling attack with 4/27 from 4 overs (Econ 6.75). Nahid Rana was miserly with 2/22 from 4 including a maiden (Econ 5.50). Sufiyan Muqeem contributed 1/23 from 4 (Econ 5.75).
Second Innings – Peshawar Zalmi 130/5 (15.2 overs)
The chase of 130 should have been routine but Mohammad Ali made it uncomfortable early on. Mohammad Haris (6 off 3) was caught at 6/1 in 0.3 overs, then Babar Azam was gone for a duck at 7/2 in 0.5 overs – a horrible start that put the chase under unexpected pressure.
Kusal Mendis (9 off 8) and Michael Bracewell (4 off 5) both fell cheaply, leaving Zalmi 40/4 by 4.5 overs with Mohammad Ali taking 3 wickets in the innings from 4 overs (3/38). The match was briefly interesting.
Aaron Hardie arrived and put the chase to bed. He made 56 not out off 39 balls (9 fours, SR 144), adding a crucial partnership with Abdul Samad (48 off 34, 3 fours, 4 sixes, SR 141) that effectively finished the contest. Samad was caught at 125/5 in 14.5 overs but Hardie and Farhan Yousaf (4* off 2) got Zalmi home with 28 balls to spare.

Turning Point
The defining moment was the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell, caught for a duck off Aaron Hardie in over 7.1 with HK at 72/6. Maxwell – a player capable of single-handedly changing a T20 – went without scoring after Irfan Khan had been run out the ball before. Three wickets in the space of four balls effectively ended any realistic chance of HK posting a competitive target, stranding Saim Ayub with the tail.
