Peshawar Zalmi turned PSL 2026 17th Match into a day trip. Karachi Kings won the toss and chose to field at National Stadium, Karachi – and were made to regret it comprehensively. Peshawar Zalmi posted 246/3 and then bowled Karachi out for 87 inside 17 overs. A 159-run win that was not as close as the margin suggests.
Peshawar Zalmi – 246/3 (20 overs)
Mohammad Haris fell for a golden duck off Khushdil Shah but the game never had a chance to develop from there. Kusal Mendis and Babar Azam proceeded to put on 191 for the second wicket – a partnership that simply took the game away. Mendis was the aggressor: 109 off 52 balls, strike rate 209.62, with 14 fours and 4 sixes. Babar was measured but devastating in his own right – 87 not out off 51 at 170.59.
The pair were separated only when Mendis skied Abbas Afridi in the 17th over. It barely mattered. Abdul Samad arrived for the last three overs and hit 40 off 12 balls at a strike rate of 333.33. Zalmi finished 246/3. Karachi’s best bowling figures were Abbas Afridi’s 2/55 off 4 overs at 13.75 economy – that tells you everything you need to know about their day with the ball.
Karachi Kings – 87 all out (16.1 overs)
Chasing 247 was never realistic but the manner of the collapse made it worse. David Warner gone for a duck off the second ball of the innings, Muhammad Waseem and Salman Agha both out before the powerplay was halfway through. Karachi were 8/3 after two overs. The game was over before most people had settled in their seats.
Nahid Rana was unplayable – 4 overs, 7 runs, 3 wickets at an economy of 1.75. On a flat Karachi surface, in a T20, that is a freak spell. Sufiyan Muqeem matched him from the other end: 4 overs, 18 runs, 3 wickets at 4.50. Iftikhar Ahmed added 3 for 9 off 2.1 overs. Karachi were all out for 87 in 16.1 overs, their best contribution coming from Azam Khan who managed 25 off 27 in a game that was long lost.
Bowling highlights (Peshawar Zalmi): Nahid Rana 3/7 (4 overs, econ 1.75), Sufiyan Muqeem 3/18 (4 overs, econ 4.50), Iftikhar Ahmed 3/9 (2.1 overs, econ 4.29).
Statz MVP – Nahid Rana (Rating: 93.6)
Nahid Rana tops the Statz Rating with 93.6 – the highest individual match rating in PSL 2026 and one of the most dominant bowling performances of the season. The Statz Rating formula combines batting and bowling impact with a 15% loss penalty applied to the defeated side. Rana’s 3/7 off 4 overs – removing Warner, Saad Baig and Adam Zampa – was worth a BwI that few bowlers have matched in this competition. His economy of 1.75 in T20 conditions at this venue is exceptional. In a game where Zalmi had already won it with the bat, Rana went out and made the statement anyway.

Turning Point
The second wicket fell at 191 when Mendis skied to deep mid-off in the 17th over. Up to that point Karachi had taken two wickets in 16.3 overs of bowling. The partnership was the match – and it started from ball three. Once Mendis and Babar put bat to ball together, there was no version of this game that Karachi win.
Verdict
A complete performance from Peshawar Zalmi. Mendis’s century, Babar’s 87 not out, Rana’s freak spell, Muqeem’s control – every department firing. For Karachi, this was a sobering afternoon. Warner for a duck, Waseem for a duck, Salman Agha for 5, Saad Baig 14. No batter passed 25 in a chase of 247. They are running out of time to find some batting form in PSL 2026.
