Southern Brave Bat First – 129 All Out
MI London won the toss and elected to bowl. Southern Brave’s innings was built on the back of Jamie Smith‘s explosive 49 off 26 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes), which propelled the home side to 82 for 1 in the 11th over. Smith’s dismissal at that point proved a turning point – the middle order crumbled as wickets fell in clusters. Tristan Stubbs made 38 off 31 (3 fours, 1 six) in a lone resistance, but found little support around him.
Ben McKinney fell for a duck at 5 for 1, Marcus Stoinis managed just 5 off 9 at 36 for 3, and David Miller contributed 8 at 95 for 5. Nikhil Chaudhary (13 off 9, 2 fours) and Saif Zaib (6 off 7) offered late cameos, but Southern Brave’s total of 129 for 9 looked vulnerable from the outset.
Trent Boult was the standout bowler for MI London, taking 2 for 15 from 3.2 overs at an economy of 4.5. Tom Curran, Richard Gleeson, and Sam Curran each claimed 2 wickets apiece, with Gleeson’s 2 for 29 from 2.3 overs proving expensive. Rashid Khan was economical with 0 for 23 from 3.2 overs.
MI London Chase – Jacks Delivers Under Pressure
MI London’s chase began shakily. James Vince fell for a duck at 17 for 1 in the 3rd over, and Nicholas Pooran departed for 0 at 17 for 2 in the very next delivery. The pressure mounted, but Jacks held firm. He struck 3 fours and 2 sixes in his 41-ball innings, maintaining a strike rate of 132 and anchoring the chase through the middle overs.
Sam Curran provided crucial support with 30 off 29 (1 four, 1 six) in a 65-run partnership with Jacks that steadied the ship at 82 for 4 in the 13th over. Curran’s dismissal – bowled by Marcus Stoinis – left MI London at 82 for 5, but Sherfane Rutherford (21 off 12, 2 fours, 2 sixes) injected urgency with a blistering cameo.
The final overs were tense. Tom Curran was bowled for 7, and Rashid Khan was run out at 127 for 8 in the 19th over, leaving MI London needing 3 from the final delivery. Ollie Pope (6 off 4) and Trent Boult (1 not out) saw the side home with a boundary off the last ball.
Marcus Stoinis was Southern Brave’s leading bowler with 3 for 17 from 3.2 overs at an economy of 5.1, a standout performance that nearly won the match. Adil Rashid took 1 for 26 from 3.2 overs, while Nikhil Chaudhary claimed 1 for 21 from 2.3 overs.
