Sussex Collapse – Cook’s Spell Ends the Contest
Sussex’s chase never got off the ground. Harrison Ward struck 11 off 5 (1 six) before falling at 14/1 in the opening over. Daniel Hughes (2 off 4) and George Thomas (3 off 6) offered little resistance, and Sussex were 17/3 inside three overs.
Oliver Carter (11 off 15) and John Simpson (2 off 9) struggled to build momentum. Tom Alsop provided some resistance with 35 off 35 (2 sixes) but fell at 102/6 in the 16th over, leaving Sussex needing 103 off 28 balls with the tail exposed. Danny Briggs (24 off 17, 2 fours, 1 six) and Jack Carson (7 off 7, 1 four) fought back, but the damage was already done.
