How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Derbyshire vs Yorkshire T20 Blast 2026 Match Report | Statz
Revis Heroics Not Enough as 430-Run Thriller Ends in Dramatic Tie
Match tied. In a sentence you barely ever get to write in T20 cricket, that’s the verdict from Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, where Derbyshire and Yorkshire both posted 215 in one of the most extraordinary games of the T20 Blast 2026 season. Match 63 of 115 delivered an unforgettable contest, but the result does little for either side’s qualification hopes – Yorkshire stay 5th (W4 L3 T1, 18pts) while Derbyshire remain stuck in 15th (W2 L4 T1, 10pts).
First Innings – Derbyshire 215/9 (20 overs)
Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bowl, and it looked a smart decision when Aneurin Donald fell for 16 off 9 balls with the score on 20 in the second over. But from there, Derbyshire simply refused to let up.
Martin Andersson set the tone with a brilliant 51 off 27 balls (SR 189) laced with seven fours and a six, before Wayne Madsen took centre stage. The veteran cracked 62 off just 33 deliveries at a strike rate of 188, peppering the boundary with 12 fours in an innings that held the middle overs together. Between them, Andersson and Madsen took the score from 57/2 to 178/5, building the platform for a massive total.
Muhammed Yusaf Bin Naeem contributed a brisk 20 off 10 (SR 200) in the powerplay, and Ross Whiteley muscled 36 off 20 at the death to push Derbyshire past 210. 215/9 looked a formidable total.
For Yorkshire’s bowlers, Andrew Tye was the pick with 3/36 from his four overs (eco 9.00), while Hasan Ali matched him with 3/39. Matthew Revis was the most economical of the lot – 2/14 from two overs at just 7.00 an over – a contribution that would prove crucial to his overall match rating.
Second Innings – Yorkshire 215/8 (20 overs)
The chase could hardly have started worse. Jonny Bairstow lasted just two balls before falling for a duck, and Adam Lyth managed only 5 off 9 before departing at 24/3.4. Yorkshire were in deep trouble.
Enter William Luxton. The youngster smashed 46 off just 21 balls at a strike rate of 219, launching four sixes and cracking four fours to drag Yorkshire back into the contest. His dismissal at 53 in the sixth over was a blow, but it brought Revis to the crease at the perfect time.
Moeen Ali (18 off 18) and Sam Whiteman (15 off 13) kept things ticking without ever threatening to take the game away from Derbyshire, and at 95/5 after 11.4 overs, Yorkshire still needed 121 from 50 balls. A massive ask.
What followed was extraordinary. Revis and Faheem Ashraf put on 67 runs in a stunning partnership, with Ashraf crunching 40 off just 17 balls at a strike rate of 235, including four sixes. When Ashraf fell at 162/16.2, Tye arrived and blazed 10 off 3 balls before falling at 172/16.5. Hasan Ali followed one ball later for a duck.
At 172/8 with 20 balls remaining and 43 still needed, Derbyshire must have sensed victory. They were wrong. Revis, who finished unbeaten on 69 off 32 balls (SR 216) with four fours and five sixes, along with Daniel Moriarty (5* off 4), hauled Yorkshire level. Not ahead. Level. 215 all square after 40 overs of mayhem.
Statz MVP – Matthew Revis (145.16)
This was a truly complete performance. Revis finished with 69 not out off 32 balls at the top of the chase, then added figures of 2/14 from 2 overs during the Derbyshire innings. His Statz Match Impact rating of 145.16 – which calculates impact based on match context – was comfortably the highest on either side. Season totals of 286.88 MI across 7 matches at an average of 40.98 confirm this is no flash in the pan.

Turning Point
Three wickets fell in the space of four deliveries between overs 16 and 17. Ashraf was caught at 162/16.2 having looked set to finish the job, Tye blasted 10 off 3 before departing at 172/16.5, and Hasan Ali followed next ball at 172/16.6. At 172/8 needing 43 from 20 balls, Derbyshire had every right to feel confident. But Revis had other ideas, dragging Yorkshire level from the most improbable of positions with a finish that will live long in the memory at Chesterfield.
Match Context
A point apiece from a tie, but the implications are very different. Yorkshire (5th, 18pts, NRR +0.811) stay in the qualification mix heading into the second half of the tournament. Derbyshire (15th, 10pts) desperately needed a win and will feel this one slipped away during that brutal three-wicket collapse in the 17th over. In the broader T20 Blast picture, the table is tightening fast with every match carrying increasing weight.
