Who Has the Most T20I Runs in 2026? India Hold the Top Five

Statz Cricket

Ishan Kishan leads the T20 international run charts for 2026 with 1,220 runs from 37 matches, at an average of 35.88 and a strike rate of 171.59. That puts him 66 runs clear of Abhishek Sharma, who has 1,154 from 39. Every one of the T20I 2026 run scorers is ranked on Statz, 793 players in all, and at the time of writing the first five places all belong to India.

The leaderboard ranks by volume, though, and volume is only half of a T20 innings. Abhishek scores at 205.34, more than 30 runs per hundred balls quicker than Kishan, and several batters further down the list average far more than either. So which is winning T20I batting in 2026: the most runs, or the fastest? This piece splits the top ten three ways, by runs, by strike rate and by average, and looks at how few matches some of them needed.

The top ten by runs

India's grip on the top of the table is the first thing the board shows. Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Shreyas Iyer fill the first five places, and only then does another side appear, with New Zealand's Glenn Phillips sixth.

Strike rate: Abhishek Sharma at 205.34 sets the pace

Who scores fastest among the leading batters

Re-order the same ten by strike rate and the table looks very different. Abhishek Sharma is the only one of them above 200, and the second-fastest is not Indian at all: Harry Brook strikes at 189.04, with Shimron Hetmyer third on 182.77.

Shai Hope152.54394601
Shreyas Iyer152.34470716
Tilak Varma148.43510757

Abhishek's numbers are built on boundaries. He has hit 86 sixes and 109 fours, and his 1,154 runs have come from 562 balls. The T20I 2026 sixes leaders board shows how far those 86 sixes put him ahead, and the T20I strike rate board ranks every qualifying batter on tempo.

Just outside the top ten, Austria's Karanbir Singh is the only other leading batter near 200. He is eleventh on 591 runs at a strike rate of 201.71.

Where Ishan Kishan sits on tempo

Kishan is fifth of the ten on strike rate, at 171.59. He has faced 711 balls, 149 more than Abhishek, and turned them into 66 more runs. That is the trade at the top of the board: Kishan has the volume, Abhishek the speed. Kishan's 127 fours are the most of the ten, and his 60 sixes are second only to Abhishek's 86.

Average and consistency: Phillips, Farhan, Brook and Hope

Batters who score fewer runs but average more

Ranked by average, the leaders come from outside India. Each of these batters has played far fewer matches than India's top five, which is why their totals sit lower on the runs board.

PlayerTeamAverageMatches
Karanbir SinghAustria59.1012

Sahibzada FarhanPakistan49.7916
Harry BrookEngland49.2919
Ishan KishanIndia35.8837
Abhishek SharmaIndia30.3739

The pattern is clear. Phillips, Hope, Farhan and Brook all average around 50 from 16 to 19 matches, while Kishan and Abhishek average in the 30s across 37 and 39. More matches bring more runs, but also more of the short, aggressive innings that pull an average down. The batting average leaderboard ranks every qualifying batter on this measure.

Not-outs play a part too. Tilak Varma averages 36.05, the best of India's five, partly because 13 of his 34 innings ended unbeaten.

Runs from fewer matches: who got there quickest

Matches played explain most of the gap between the top five and the rest. Abhishek has played 39 T20Is this year, Kishan 37, Tilak 35, Samson 30 and Iyer 26. Further down, Hetmyer has played 20, Brook 19, Phillips 17, Farhan and Hope 16 each, and Karanbir Singh 12.

Phillips and Farhan make the point best. Their totals are almost identical, 698 and 697, but Phillips needed 17 matches and Farhan 16. Farhan's 697 works out at 43.56 runs a match (697 divided by 16), against Kishan's 32.97 (1,220 divided by 37). The table ranked by runs, matches and strike rate lets you set these side by side for any batter.

Hundreds tell a similar story. Farhan, Hope, Brook and Abhishek have two each in the top ten, as does Karanbir Singh just below it. Kishan, Iyer and Phillips have one apiece, and Samson, Tilak and Hetmyer have none despite their places on the board. The T20I hundreds board has the full list.

To follow one batter through the season, Ishan Kishan's player page has his innings match by match. The Cricket stat finder filters any of these figures by team or opponent.

Who is in form: the last three innings

The runs board also prints each batter's last three T20I innings, newest first. They show who is arriving at the next match in touch, and they do not always follow the season's order.

PlayerLast three innings (newest first)
Ishan Kishan61, 0, 1
Abhishek Sharma1, 27, 113
Sanju Samson4, 4, 18
Tilak Varma6, 35, 1*
Shreyas Iyer50, 22, 5
Glenn Phillips65*, 107, 17
Sahibzada Farhan76, 73, 89
Harry Brook33, 23, 114*
Shimron Hetmyer33, 43, 0
Shai Hope102*, 5, 102*

Two of the non-Indian batters stand out. Sahibzada Farhan has passed 70 in each of his last three innings, 76, 73 and 89, and Shai Hope has two unbeaten hundreds in his last three, both 102 not out. Glenn Phillips made 107 two innings ago and is unbeaten on 65 in his latest.

At the top of the board, the recent run is quieter. Kishan's latest innings was 61, after scores of 0 and 1, and Abhishek's 113 came three innings ago, followed by 27 and 1. Samson's last three add up to 26. On form alone, the batters averaging around 50 from fewer matches are the ones scoring now. These figures were taken at the time of writing and change after every match.

What the 2026 run charts mean for the rest of the season

The board moves after every match, so the order can change quickly. At the time of writing, India's five lead on volume because they have played the most cricket. Abhishek has the speed. Phillips, Farhan, Hope and Brook have the averages that would carry them up the list with more matches.
