Portugal’s Batting Display
Finland won the toss and elected to bowl, but Portugal’s middle order made them pay. Chad Potgieter fell early for 8 at 16/1 in the opening over, but Dhavalkumar Norotam steadied the ship with 47 off 29 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 162. The pair of Norotam and Sharn Gomes built a crucial 73-run stand, with Gomes finishing unbeaten on 62 off 46 (3 fours, 2 sixes).
Jordan Pereira Netto provided the late-order acceleration with 41 off 29 (4 fours, 1 six), pushing Portugal past 180. Hammadullah Shinwari was Finland’s standout bowler, taking 1/32 from 4 overs, while Nicholas Salonen claimed 1/27 from 4. Amjad Sher proved expensive, conceding 49 from 4 overs without a wicket.
Finland’s Chase Falls Short
Aravind Mohan launched a one-man assault on Portugal’s bowling, striking 71 off just 44 balls (4 fours, 4 sixes) at a strike rate of 161. His aggressive batting kept Finland in the hunt, but the loss of Vanraaj Padhaal (12 off 15) at 24/2 and Faraaz Mehti Abbas (17 off 17) at 96/3 meant Finland never built the partnerships needed.
Faheem Nellancheri provided late fireworks with 28 off 13 (1 four, 3 sixes) at a strike rate of 215, but by then the chase had stalled. Edward Fleming was Portugal’s standout bowler, taking 2/31 from 4 overs, while Jeremy Martins claimed 1/22 from 3. Finland finished on 171, falling 8 runs short of Portugal’s total.
