Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 4 wickets (with 2 balls remaining) – T20 Internationals Match Report
Bangladesh won by 4 wickets (with 2 balls remaining) in the 135th match of 143 in T20 Internationals at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. Tanzid Hasan anchored the chase with an unbeaten 66 off 58 balls as Bangladesh hunted down Zimbabwe’s 143 with clinical precision, securing a crucial away victory.
Zimbabwe Innings – Myers Leads Fightback
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat, but the opening partnership crumbled immediately. Tadiwanashe Marumani fell for just 4 at 6/1 in the second over, leaving the hosts in early trouble. Brian Bennett steadied the ship with 47 off 38 balls (8 fours) before being clean bowled at 77/2 in the 11th over, but the real resistance came from Dion Myers.
Myers produced a commanding 73 off 53 balls (7 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 138, lifting Zimbabwe from 77/2 towards a competitive total. Sikandar Raza contributed 3 off 6 at 107/4 in the 15th over, while Ryan Burl managed 7 off 7 before falling at 129/5. Zimbabwe’s innings stuttered in the final overs – Brad Evans was run out for 1 at 131/6, and Clive Madande fell for a duck at 131/7 – but Milton Shumba (4 not out) and Tinotenda Maposa (0 not out) guided them to 143 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Mohammad Saifuddin was Bangladesh’s standout bowler, taking 2/35 from 4 overs. Mahedi Hasan claimed 1/31, Rishad Hossain took 1/28, and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain picked up 1/31 as Bangladesh’s bowling kept Zimbabwe under control throughout.
Bangladesh Chase – Hasan’s Composure Seals Victory
Saif Hassan fell early for 4 at 4/1 in the first over, but Parvez Hossain Emon (24 off 22, 1 four, 2 sixes) steadied the chase with a 55-run second-wicket stand alongside Tanzid Hasan. Hasan took control from there, striking 4 sixes and 1 four across his unbeaten 66 off 58 balls at a strike rate of 114 – a masterclass in T20 batting under pressure.
Towhid Hridoy provided crucial support with 24 off 19 (1 four, 1 six) at 122/3 in the 16th over, while Yasir Ali contributed 10 off 9 at 137/4 in the 18th. Mosaddek Hossain was clean bowled for 1 at 140/5, and Mohammad Saifuddin fell for a duck at 140/6, but Mahedi Hasan (4 not out off 1 ball, 1 four) sealed the win with a boundary in the 20th over.
Richard Ngarava was Zimbabwe’s best bowler with 2/20 from 4 overs at an economy of 5. Brad Evans took 2/26 from 3.4 overs, Sikandar Raza claimed 2/38 from 4, and Tinotenda Maposa conceded 21 from 2 overs without taking a wicket.
