Jamaica Kingsmen beat Barbados Royals by 9 wickets (with 35 balls remaining) – Caribbean Premier League Match Report
Jamaica Kingsmen won by 9 wickets (with 35 balls remaining) in the 36th match of 39 in the Caribbean Premier League 2026 at Kensington Oval. Maaz Sadaqat produced one of the most destructive innings of the season – 112 off just 49 balls with 9 fours and 8 sixes at a strike rate of 229 – to dismantle Barbados Royals in a chase that was over almost before it began. The win keeps Jamaica’s playoff hopes alive, while Barbados’ grip on third place tightens despite the home loss.
Barbados Royals Limp to 144
Jamaica won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that proved instantly vindicated. Barbados collapsed to 1/2 in the opening overs, with Brandon King dismissed for a duck at 0/1 and Kelvon Anderson following at 1/2. Zachary Carter managed just 3 before falling at 10/3, leaving the home side in tatters.
Quinton de Kock steadied the ship with 71 off 49 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes), striking at 145 to drag Barbados towards respectability. He shared a crucial partnership with Chris Green, who finished unbeaten on 57 off 44 (5 fours, 1 six) at a strike rate of 130. But the damage was done early – Shadrack Descarte fell lbw for 0 at 22/5, and Sherfane Rutherford was bowled for 6 at 30/6 – leaving Barbados with only 144 to defend.
Andre Russell was Jamaica’s standout bowler with 2/36 from 3.5 overs, while Hassan Khan took 1/16 from 4 overs at an economy of 4. Hunain Shah claimed 1/25 and Saim Ayub picked up 1/28 as Jamaica’s bowling attack suffocated the hosts.
Sadaqat’s Onslaught Ends Contest in 14 Overs
The chase was a formality. Maaz Sadaqat took the attack to Barbados from ball one, smashing an unrelenting 112 off 49 balls – 9 fours and 8 sixes – at a strike rate of 229. His innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression, with Jamaica racing to 138/1 by the 13th over before Sadaqat fell caught at 138/1 in the 13th over (ball 13.3).
By then, the result was beyond doubt. Kirk McKenzie (22 off 34, 2 fours) and Saim Ayub (3 off 2) saw Jamaica home with 35 balls to spare, completing a comprehensive demolition. Daniel Sams was Barbados’ only success, taking 1/26 from 3 overs, but it mattered little in the face of Sadaqat’s onslaught.
