Barbados Royals beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 4 wickets (with 12 balls remaining) – Caribbean Premier League Match Report
Barbados Royals won by 4 wickets with 12 balls remaining in the 32nd match of 39 in the Caribbean Premier League 2026 at Kensington Oval. Chris Green delivered a match-defining all-round performance – taking 4 wickets for just 20 runs with the ball and then steadying the chase with the bat – as Royals hunted down 119 in a tense contest. The victory lifts Barbados to 4th place (4W 4L, 8pts) while St Kitts and Nevis Patriots remain 6th (3W 6L 1NR, 7pts) in the standings.
St Kitts and Nevis Innings – Patriots Collapse to 118 All Out
Barbados Royals won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that proved inspired as the Patriots’ batting lineup crumbled under sustained pressure. Johnson Charles fell without scoring at 0/1 in the opening over, clean bowled by Chris Green, setting a tone of early dominance. Andre Fletcher managed just 4 off 8 balls before being clean bowled at 6/2, and Kyle Mayers departed for a duck at 6/3 in the opening powerplay.
Alick Athanaze (16 off 15, 1 four, 1 six) and Jason Holder (24 off 27, 1 four, 1 six) attempted to stabilise the innings, building a 27-run stand before both fell to catches. Dasun Shanaka was lbw for 6, and Navin Bidaisee (6 off 15) fell at 73/7 as the Patriots’ middle order offered little resistance.
The only moment of genuine resistance came from Wanindu Hasaranga, who produced a brilliant counter-attack with 45 off just 25 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes) at a strike rate of 180. His 37-run stand with Jeremiah Louis (12 off 8, 2 fours) pushed the Patriots to 118, but Hasaranga’s run-out at 110/8 in the 18th over ended their hopes of a competitive total. Naseem Shah was clean bowled for a duck at 89/9, leaving the Patriots short of a defendable score.
Chris Green was the standout bowler with 4/20 from 4 overs, including a maiden, combining accuracy with penetration. Daniel Sams took 2/21 from 4 overs, while Gudakesh Motie claimed 2/30 from 4. Jakeem Pollard was economical with 0/17 from 4 overs at an economy of 4.25.
Barbados Royals Innings – Steady Chase to Victory
Chasing 119, Barbados Royals made a shaky start when Brandon King fell for a duck at 0/1 in the opening over. Rivaldo Clarke (4 off 3, 1 four) departed quickly at 4/2, and Zachary Carter (13 off 15, 2 fours) fell at 27/3 as Royals stumbled early.
Quinton de Kock then anchored the innings with a composed 44 off 43 balls (2 fours, 2 sixes), building crucial partnerships to keep Royals on track. Shadrack Descarte (19 off 18, 3 fours) added valuable runs at 65/4, before Sherfane Rutherford struck quickly with 23 off 17 balls (3 fours) at a strike rate of 135 to accelerate the chase. Rutherford was stumped at 104/6 in the 15th over, but Chris Green (3 off 5) and Daniel Sams (9 off 4, 1 six) finished the job with 12 balls to spare.
Jason Holder was the pick of the Patriots’ bowlers with 3/31 from 4 overs, while Naseem Shah took 2/11 from 4 overs at an economy of 2.75 – a miserly effort that went unrewarded. Waqar Salamkheil claimed 1/19 from 4 overs, and Wanindu Hasaranga was expensive with 0/35 from 3 overs at an economy of 11.67.

Turning Point
The match turned decisively when Chris Green removed Johnson Charles for a duck in the opening over of the Patriots’ innings. That early breakthrough set the tone for a sustained collapse – the Patriots were 0/1 and never recovered. By the time Wanindu Hasaranga arrived at the crease, the damage was done. His 45 off 25 came too late to build a competitive total, and his run-out at 110/8 confirmed that 118 would be insufficient. Barbados’ chase, though stuttering early, was never seriously threatened once de Kock and Descarte steadied the ship.
