Los Angeles Post 184
Los Angeles Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat, building a commanding total through aggressive batting across the order. Colin Munro set the tone with 52 off 43 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 121, anchoring the powerplay before falling clean bowled at 132/1 in the 13th over. Andre Fletcher contributed 15 off 13 (2 fours) before being caught at 34/2 in the 5th over.
The real fireworks came from Andre Russell, who exploded with 40 off just 18 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes) at a strike rate of 222, propelling Los Angeles from 97/3 in the 10th over to a dominant position. Matthew Tromp provided crucial support with 49 off 28 (5 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 175, building a 80-run partnership with Russell that shifted momentum decisively. Rovman Powell (4 off 6) and Jason Holder (3 off 5) fell cheaply at 155/5 and 160/6, but Jahmar Hamilton blasted 13 off 5 (1 six) at a strike rate of 260 in the final overs to push Los Angeles to 184/7.
Haris Rauf was San Francisco’s standout bowler with 3/25 from 3 overs, while Xavier Bartlett took 2/24 from 4. Matthew Short claimed 1/26 from 3 overs as San Francisco’s attack struggled to contain the Knight Riders’ explosive middle order.
San Francisco Fall Short at 173
San Francisco Unicorns began their chase positively, but early wickets derailed their momentum. Lhuan-dre Pretorius made 18 off 11 (1 four, 1 six) before being clean bowled at 33/1 in the 3rd over, and Finn Allen fell for just 1 at 9/2 in the 1st over. Sanjay Krishnamurthi (4 off 2) was clean bowled at 37/4 in the 3rd over, leaving San Francisco in early trouble.
Matthew Short steadied the ship with 43 off 30 (5 fours, 1 six) at a strike rate of 143, building crucial partnerships to keep San Francisco in the hunt. Hassan Khan contributed 45 off 33 (5 fours, 1 six) at a strike rate of 136, and Hammad Azam struck 40 off 19 (4 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 211 to bring San Francisco within reach. But the loss of Azam – lbw at 173/7 in the 18th over – proved decisive, and Xavier Bartlett (5 off 5) and Brody Couch (0 off 5) fell without adding significant runs. San Francisco finished at 173/10, falling 11 runs short.
Jason Holder was the architect of Los Angeles’ victory, taking 4/40 from 4 overs with a miserly economy of 10. Andre Russell added 3/42 from 3.1 overs to complete his all-round masterclass, while Shadley van Schalkwyk claimed 1/30 from 4 overs. Lloyd Pope took 1/23 from 4 overs for San Francisco.
