MI New York Innings – Singh Steals the Show
Seattle Orcas won the toss and elected to bowl, but MI New York’s middle order provided the backbone before Singh’s late heroics took over. Monank Patel opened with 21 off 22 (3 fours) before being clean bowled at 51 for 1 in the 8.2 overs. Ryan Rickelton fell for just 6 at 18 for 2 in the opening over, and Nicholas Pooran departed for 6 at 26 for 3 in the 3.4 overs.
Kieron Pollard anchored the innings with a brisk 54 off 33 (4 fours, 4 sixes) at a strike rate of 164, steadying the ship with a 104-run partnership that took MI New York from 49 for 4 to 153 for 5 by the 18.2 overs. But the real fireworks came from Singh – arriving at the crease with the total at 73 for 6 in the 11.3 overs, he smashed 66 off just 27 balls to propel the hosts to 179 for 8. Romario Shepherd chipped in with 6 off 3 (1 six) before being caught off a substitute fielder.
Marcus Stoinis was the standout bowler for Seattle, taking 5 for 46 from 4 overs at an economy of 11.5 – a devastating spell that kept MI New York’s total in check despite Singh’s onslaught. Ottneil Baartman took 2 for 18 from 4 overs, while Ali Sheikh claimed 1 for 14 from 2.
Seattle Orcas Chase Falls Short
Tim Seifert produced a stunning counter-attack with 88 off 61 (5 fours, 5 sixes) at a strike rate of 144, keeping Seattle in the hunt throughout the chase. Matthew Breetzke supported with 44 off 31 (4 fours, 1 six) at 142, building a crucial 131-run stand that took Seattle from 27 for 2 in the 3.2 overs to 158 for 3 by the 18.6 overs. But the loss of Seifert at that stage proved decisive – he was caught with 17 runs still needed off the final overs.
Shimron Hetmyer fell for just 2 at 146 for 4, and Marcus Stoinis was clean bowled for 8 at 155 for 5, leaving the lower order unable to bridge the gap. Dasun Shanaka remained unbeaten on 3 as Seattle fell 17 runs short at 162 for 6.
Romario Shepherd was the pick of MI New York’s bowlers with 2 for 13 from 3 overs, while Kieron Pollard took 2 for 9 from 1.5 overs. Trent Boult conceded 29 from 4 overs without taking a wicket, and Rushil Ugarkar claimed 1 for 27 from 4.
