Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi – PSL 2026 Match Report: Kusal Mendis Stars as Zalmi Chase Down 183
Peshawar Zalmi made light work of a 183-run target at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday, cruising home by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare as Kusal Mendis produced an innings of genuine quality to settle PSL 2026 Match 32 as a contest well before the close.
Karachi Kings Set Competitive Target
Karachi Kings won the toss and chose to bat, and for much of their innings it looked like a decent decision. Jason Roy gave the innings its backbone with 85 off 51 balls – 11 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 166.67 – before being caught off Mohammad Basit in the 19th over. Roy and Azam Khan (35 off 19, with 3 fours and 3 sixes) combined to put the Kings in a strong position after half the innings, but the back end stuttered badly.
From 164/4 in the 18th over, Karachi lost 5 wickets for just 18 runs, ending on 182/9. Ali Raza was the chief wrecker at the death, finishing with 4/41 from his 4 overs – claiming Khushdil Shah (hit wicket), Shahid Aziz and Hasan Ali in the final over to deflate what had looked like a 195+ total. Aaron Hardie (1/26) and Mohammad Basit (1/33) had done the early damage, while Iftikhar Ahmed chipped in with the wicket of Azam Khan.
Mendis and Farhan Yousaf Make It Look Easy
The chase never got particularly tense. Peshawar lost James Vince (16 off 10) and Babar Azam (25 off 19) in quick succession to fall to 69/3 in the eighth over, but Mendis had already taken control at the crease and showed no signs of relinquishing it.
The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter finished 80 not out off 43 balls – 5 fours and 4 sixes, strike rate 186.05 – and put on an unbroken 117-run partnership with Farhan Yousaf that buried the contest. Yousaf contributed 58* off 36 (5 fours, 3 sixes) to complete a polished chase with more than an over left. Karachi’s bowlers had no answers once the partnership was established – Hasan Ali went for 52 from his 3.5 overs, and Abbas Afridi conceded 46 from 4.
