Surrey beat Kent by 9 wickets (with 67 balls remaining) – T20 Blast Match Report
Surrey won by 9 wickets (with 67 balls remaining) in the 94th match of 115 in the T20 Blast 2026 at St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury. A clinical performance with bat and ball saw Surrey chase down Kent’s modest total in just 8.5 overs, with Jason Roy leading the charge and Chris Jordan delivering a match-defining spell with the ball. The win lifts Surrey to 2nd (7W 4L, 28pts) while Kent remain 14th (4W 7L, 16pts) and slipping further towards the bottom.
Kent’s Collapse – 102 All Out
Surrey won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that proved instantly decisive. Kent’s innings unravelled from the opening ball, with Tawanda Muyeye caught at 7/1 in the first over. Zak Crawley provided the only real resistance with 31 off 19 balls (4 fours, 1 six) at a strike rate of 163, but fell at 54/3 in the 6th over. Daniel Bell-Drummond made 17 off 16 before departing at 56/2, while Sam Billings managed just 3 at 61/4.
Harry Finch contributed 18 off 20 in a 38-run stand with Crawley, but the middle order crumbled. Jordan Clark was the standout bowler for Surrey, taking 3/26 from 4 overs at an economy of 6.5. Chris Jordan was miserly with the ball, conceding just 5 runs from 3 overs while claiming 2 wickets at an economy of 1.67 – a masterclass in death bowling. Daniel Lawrence took 2/13 from 2 overs, while Reece Topley and Sean Abbott each claimed a wicket. Kent’s total of 102 all out in 17 overs was a damning indictment of their batting depth.
Surrey’s Blitz Chase
Jason Roy took the attack to Kent from the first ball, smashing 50 off just 29 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of 172. Laurie Evans provided explosive support with 25 off 9 balls (4 sixes) at a strike rate of 278, though he was bowled by Hasan Mahmud at 43/1 in the 3rd over. Josh Philippe finished unbeaten on 20 off 15 as Surrey coasted to 106/1 in 8.5 overs, with Roy still at the crease. The chase was over before Kent’s bowlers could settle, a complete mismatch in quality and execution.
