Match 30 of 112 in the T20 Blast 2026, and Gloucestershire produced a brilliant all-round display to thrash Yorkshire by 56 runs at Headingley. D’Arcy Short was sensational with both bat and ball – 82 off 50 with the willow, then 4/31 to rip through the Yorkshire middle order. Despite a valiant 97 from Adam Lyth, Yorkshire were bowled out for 161 chasing 218.

First Innings – Gloucestershire: 217/6

Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat. Miles Hammond fell early for 13 caught at 24/1 in the fourth over, but Short and Joe Phillips took the innings by the scruff of the neck. Phillips smashed 42 off 25 balls with a four and three sixes before being caught at 119/2 in the 13th over, and Short kept the momentum going throughout.

Short played the anchor-aggressor role perfectly – 82 off 50 balls with seven fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 164. He was finally caught at 165/3 in the 16th over, and Jack Taylor fell almost immediately after for 20 off 10 at 166/4. The middle order wobbled briefly – Kamran Dhariwal managed just 4 before being caught at 171/5 – but Oliver Joseph Price hit a useful 14 off 8 before falling at 195/6.

Duan Jansen then provided the late fireworks. An extraordinary 15 not out off just 4 balls – two fours and a six at a strike rate of 375 – alongside Ben Charlesworth (12 not out) pushed Gloucestershire to a formidable 217/6.

Hasan Ali was the standout Yorkshire bowler with 3/29 from his four overs at 7.25. Moeen Ali was economical with 1/19 at 6.33, and Andrew Tye picked up 2/40. But Faheem Ashraf was expensive at 0/60 from four overs, economy 15.00.

Second Innings – Yorkshire: 161 all out in 17.4 overs

The chase never got going for Yorkshire beyond one man. Jonny Bairstow fell for just 4 caught at 6/1 in the second over, and while William Luxton hit a quickfire 20 off 12, he was caught at 35/2. James Wharton was bowled for 1 at 49/3, and Yorkshire were already in deep trouble.

Adam Lyth fought valiantly at the other end. He found some support from Moeen Ali, who made 15 before being caught at 101/5. But then the collapse truly set in – Matthew Revis fell for a duck the very next ball at 101/6, and the lower order crumbled. Ashraf made 5, Dominic Bess scored 6, Tye and Hasan Ali managed 1 and 0 respectively.

Short was devastating with the ball, taking 4/31 from his four overs at an economy of 7.75. Jansen chipped in with 3/22 from three overs at 7.33, and Price took 2/36. Between them, they dismantled Yorkshire’s batting around Lyth, who finished on 97 off 56 balls – 13 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 173 – caught off the final wicket to fall. A stunning individual effort in a losing cause.

Instead, two wickets for no runs in consecutive deliveries turned a difficult chase into an impossible one, and the lower order folded quickly from there.
