How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Gloucestershire vs Warwickshire – T20 Blast Report | Statz
Bowlers Dominate in Bristol as Gloucestershire Defend 121 to Win by 47 Runs
Gloucestershire won by 47 runs against Warwickshire in the 9th match of 111 in the T20 Blast 2026 at County Ground, Bristol. In a match dominated by the ball, Gloucestershire were bowled out for 121 but then skittled Warwickshire for just 74 in 14.4 overs to claim a remarkable victory. (Full scorecard)
Gloucestershire Scrape to 121 All Out
Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bowl, and their attack made the most of helpful conditions. D’Arcy Short fell for 4 in the first over, caught off the bowling, leaving Gloucestershire 5/1 immediately.
Miles Hammond counter-attacked with 17 off 10 (three fours, SR 170) before being bowled at 22/2, and Oliver Price struck a rapid 19 off 10 (four fours, SR 190) before falling caught at 46/3 in the sixth over. It was aggressive batting, but nobody could build a substantial innings.
Ben Charlesworth (25 off 21) and Jack Taylor (16 off 15) steadied things briefly with a partnership that took the score to 81, but both fell in quick succession. James Bracey contributed a handy 20 off 13 (three fours) lower down, while Kamran Dhariwal hit a six in his 10 off 6. Gloucestershire were ultimately bowled out for 121 in 16.1 overs – a total that looked well below par.
Tazeem Ali was outstanding for Warwickshire, claiming 4/25 from four overs at an economy of 6.25. Oliver Hannon-Dalby took 2/12 from two overs (economy 6), Usman Tariq grabbed 2/17 from three (economy 5.67), and Chris Woakes chipped in with 2/22 from 3.1 overs at 6.95. It was a complete bowling performance.
Warwickshire Crumble to 74 All Out
But if Warwickshire’s bowlers were impressive, Gloucestershire’s were sensational. Chasing just 122, Warwickshire’s batting order disintegrated against a hostile seam attack on a pitch offering plenty for the quicks.
Marchant de Lange was devastating with the new ball, conceding just 9 runs from three overs while taking 2 wickets at an economy of 3. Alex Davies (5 off 6) was caught early at 10/1, and Beau Webster was bowled for 6 at 25/2 in the fifth over.
The collapse accelerated from there. Sam Hain was caught for 9 at 33/3, Ed Barnard followed immediately at 36/4, and Robert Yates – who had been trying to hold things together with 14 off 16 – fell at 42/5 in the seventh over. Five wickets down chasing 122, and the game was effectively over.
Vansh Jani showed some fight with 21 off 18 (two fours, a six) but wickets kept tumbling around him. Jordan Thompson made 1, Chris Woakes was run out for 5, and Oliver Hannon-Dalby was bowled for 2. Warwickshire were all out for 74 in the 15th over.
Duan Jansen was the standout with the ball, matching Tazeem Ali’s figures with 4/25 from four overs at an economy of 6.25. Craig Miles claimed 3/11 from 2.4 overs at 4.13, and de Lange finished with 2/9 from three at an economy of just 3. Matthew Taylor bowled four tight overs of 0/18 at 4.5.
Statz MVP – Tazeem Ali (106.62)
Tazeem Ali takes the Statz MVP award with a rating of 106.62 – notable because he finished on the losing side. His 4/25 from four overs at an economy of 6.25 was the best bowling performance in the match, ripping through Gloucestershire’s batting order and very nearly setting up a Warwickshire victory. Statz calculates impact based on match context, and Ali’s wickets at crucial moments – dismissing batters who were trying to accelerate – earned him the highest rating of any player in the contest despite Warwickshire’s batting collapse.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Tazeem Ali (Warwickshire) – 106.62: 4/25 from 4 overs at economy 6.25. Exceptional spell that destroyed Gloucestershire’s batting – but his team could not back it up.
- Marchant de Lange (Gloucestershire) – 77.32: 2/9 from 3 overs at economy 3. Hostile, miserly pace bowling that set the tone for Warwickshire’s collapse.
- Duan Jansen (Gloucestershire) – 71.42: 4/25 from 4 overs at economy 6.25. Matched Ali’s figures in the second innings to seal the win.
- Oliver Hannon-Dalby (Warwickshire) – 57.68: 2/12 from 2 overs at economy 6. Made early inroads with the new ball for Warwickshire.
- Usman Tariq (Warwickshire) – 55.36: 2/17 from 3 overs at economy 5.67. Controlled and incisive spin bowling in the first innings.
Turning Point
The dismissal of Sam Hain at 33/3 in the sixth over. Warwickshire’s most experienced middle-order batter was caught for 9 having briefly counter-attacked with two fours. His departure triggered an immediate avalanche – Ed Barnard fell two balls later at 36/4, Robert Yates soon followed at 42/5, and any hope of chasing 122 evaporated in the space of ten deliveries.
