How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Delhi Capitals Overhaul Rajasthan Royals Target to Keep Playoff Push Alive
Delhi Capitals won by 5 wickets (with 4 balls remaining) in the 62nd match of 74 in the Indian Premier League 2026 Regular Season at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Delhi Capitals chased down Rajasthan Royals‘ 193/8 to reach 197/5 in 19.2 overs, keeping their slim playoff hopes alive while RR drop deeper into trouble after failing to convert a strong middle-order platform into a defendable total.
DC came into this game 7th with 10 points from 12 games – a win was non-negotiable. RR, sitting 5th with 12 points from 11, were looking to consolidate their playoff position. In the end, DC’s bowlers – led by Lungi Ngidi‘s outstanding 2/24 – laid the foundations, and Lokesh Rahul and Abhishek Porel did the hard work in the chase.
First Innings: Rajasthan Royals 193/8 (20 overs)
DC won the toss and elected to bowl. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell early – caught for 12 off 9 at 19/1 in over 1.5 – but Vaibhav Suryavanshi was in imperious form. The teenager blasted 46 off 21 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes, SR 219) before his dismissal at 89/2 in over 7.3 brought the innings to a brief pause.
Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel then built the innings back up. Parag was particularly explosive – 51 off 26 (3 fours, 5 sixes, SR 196) – and the pair pushed RR from 89 to 161 before Parag was caught off Mitchell Starc at 161/3 in over 14.2. What followed was a collapse: Donovan Ferreira for a duck next ball at 161/4 (over 14.3), Ravi Singh for 4 off 2 at 165/5 (over 14.5), then Shubham Dubey for 5 off 9 at 173/6 (over 16.5). Three wickets for 12 runs in 2.3 overs.
Dasun Shanaka (10 off 8) and Jofra Archer (2 not out) helped RR recover to 193/8, with Jurel the last recognised batter to fall – LBW for 53 off 40 at 191/7 in over 19.4. A decent innings in the circumstances, but 20 runs short of what the platform deserved.
DC’s bowling was led by Starc (4/40 from 4), backed by Ngidi’s miserly 2/24 from 4 (Econ 6.00) and Madhav Tiwari‘s 2/27 from 4 (Econ 6.75). Axar Patel went wicketless but conceded just 31 from 4 (Econ 7.75), keeping the lid on throughout.
Second Innings: Delhi Capitals 197/5 (19.2 overs)
Porel and Rahul put DC in control early. Porel was aggressive from ball one – 51 off 31 (7 fours, 1 six, SR 165) before falling caught at 105/1 in over 10.1. Sahil Parakh came and went for 9 at 122/2 (over 12.3), but Rahul held the innings together with 56 off 42 (1 four, 3 sixes, SR 133) before being clean bowled at 133/3 in over 14.3.
Tristan Stubbs was dismissed for 4 at 153/4 (over 16.2) and David Miller for 9 at 175/5 (over 18.1), briefly raising RR hopes. But Axar Patel – 34 not out off 18 (2 fours, 2 sixes, SR 189) – and Ashutosh Sharma – 18 not out off 5 (1 four, 2 sixes, SR 360) – got DC home with 4 balls to spare.
RR’s attack was led by Jofra Archer (2/35 from 4, Econ 8.75) and Brijesh Sharma (2/44 from 4, Econ 11.00). Shanaka chipped in with 1/29 from 3. It was not enough – DC needed 194 and got there with calculated aggression.
Statz MVP: Lungi Ngidi – 92.87
Lungi Ngidi is Statz’s MVP of the match with a rating of 92.87 – the top-rated performance of the game according to a formula that calculates impact based on match context. Ngidi took 2/24 from 4 overs (Econ 6.00) at a critical juncture in the RR innings, hitting good lengths and restricting the scoring precisely when RR had the momentum to push on.
The official Man of the Match went to Mitchell Starc – and his 4/40 absolutely won the game on wickets. But Statz disagrees: Ngidi’s match-context impact, 2 wickets at just 6 runs per over, rates higher than Starc’s more expensive 4-fer. Both bowlers were outstanding – but Ngidi’s contribution was arguably the one that set the tone and kept RR 20 runs short of what their platform deserved.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Lungi Ngidi (DC) – 92.87 – 2/24 from 4 overs, the most impactful bowling performance of the match by match context
- Vaibhav Suryavanshi (RR) – 80.43 – 46 off 21 (SR 219, 3 sixes), the best batting performance of the first innings
- Riyan Parag (RR) – 80.07 – 51 off 26 (SR 196, 5 sixes), a destructive cameo that nearly pushed RR beyond reach
- Mitchell Starc (DC) – 78.66 – 4/40 from 4 overs, four wickets that dismantled the RR middle and lower order
- Madhav Tiwari (DC) – 72.84 – 2/27 from 4 (Econ 6.75), controlled spin that kept RR in check through the middle overs
Turning Point
RR were 161/3 in over 14.2 with Riyan Parag in full flow. His dismissal – caught off Mitchell Starc – triggered a collapse of four wickets for 12 runs between overs 14.2 and 16.5. At 161/3 with 35 balls remaining, RR should have posted 215+. Instead they finished on 193/8 – roughly 20 runs short of par. Parag out at 161/3 in over 14.2 is the moment this match turned.

Delhi Capitals – 7th, 12 pts from 13 (W6 L7, NRR -0.871). DC stay in contention but their net run rate remains a major problem. They need wins – and they need them big. Every game from here is a must-win.
Rajasthan Royals – 5th, 12 pts from 12 (W6 L6, NRR +0.027). RR now have a game more played than several rivals and their playoff place is no longer secure. With CSK and DC both on 12 points, this was a damaging defeat at a critical moment in the season.
The full standings picture: RCB lead on 18 pts (P13), GT 2nd on 16 pts (P13), SRH 3rd on 14 pts (P12). The top-4 race is very much alive – and DC’s win keeps them mathematically in it, just.
