How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals – IPL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Delhi Capitals beat Punjab Kings by 3 wickets (with 6 balls remaining) in the 55th match of 74 in the Indian Premier League 2026, played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The win keeps Delhi’s faint playoffs hopes alive but with four wins from 11 games they remain eighth – a long way off the pace set by the top four.
First Innings – Punjab Kings 210/5 (20 overs)
Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened for Punjab at the top of a high-scoring contest in Dharamsala. Prabhsimran went for 18 off 15, caught in the deep in the 7th over with Punjab on 78. Arya continued the assault, smashing 56 off 33 – 2 fours and 6 sixes – before being caught out with the score on 97 in the 9th over (8.6).
Shreyas Iyer was the innings anchor, stroking a composed 59 off 36 (5 fours, 3 sixes) to close unbeaten. Cooper Connolly contributed 38 off 27 before being caught at 180 in the 18th over. Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh fell cheaply with the score on 187 – two wickets in two balls in over 18. Suryansh Shedge then launched 21 off just 8 deliveries (2 fours, 2 sixes, SR 263) to take Punjab to 210/5.
For Delhi, Madhav Tiwari was the pick of the bowlers with 2/40 from 4 overs – the wickets of Connolly and Stoinis. Mitchell Starc also took 2 wickets but went for 57 from 4 overs including 7 wides, a costly spell. Mukesh Kumar was the most economical Delhi seamer at 7.75 runs per over.
Second Innings – Delhi Capitals 216/7 (19 overs)
Delhi needed 211 to win and came out swinging. The top order fell quickly – Abhishek Porel bowled for 5 in the 2nd over, Lokesh Rahul caught for 9 off 8 at 14/2. Sahil Parakh hit 13 off 6 before being caught at 33 in the 5th over. Tristan Stubbs was run out for 12 off 17 at 74 in the 8th over – a slow innings that applied brakes when DC needed momentum.
Axar Patel then took control with a brilliant 56 off 30 (8 fours, 2 sixes, SR 187) before being caught at 138 in over 13.6 – Delhi still needing 73 from 37 balls with 5 wickets in hand. David Miller kept the chase on track with 51 off 28 (3 fours, 4 sixes) before falling at 170 in over 16.3. Ashutosh Sharma smashed 24 off 10 (SR 240) before being caught-sub at 205 in over 18.5. In the end, Madhav Tiwari (18* off 8, SR 225) and Auqib Nabi (10* off 2, SR 500) saw Delhi home with an over to spare.
Arshdeep Singh was outstanding for Punjab with 2/21 from 4 overs – an economy of 5.25 in a ground that leaked runs throughout. Yash Thakur also took 2 wickets but his 13.75 economy hurt badly.
Statz MVP – Arshdeep Singh (117.54)
Arshdeep Singh tops the Statz ratings with a score of 117.54 – Statz calculates impact based on match context, and Arshdeep’s figures of 2/21 in a 216-run chase were exceptional. Conceding just 5.25 per over at Dharamsala, where every other bowler struggled, makes this one of the best bowling performances of the match.
The official Man of the Match went to Madhav Tiwari – whose contribution of 2/40 and 18* was undeniably important to the win. But Statz rates the quality of Arshdeep’s bowling performance higher. Tiwari scores 98.03 – just behind Arshdeep – which reflects how close this call is. On this occasion, Statz and the official award disagree.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Arshdeep Singh (PBKS) – 117.54 – 2/21 from 4 overs, economy 5.25 in a high-scoring contest
- Madhav Tiwari (DC) – 98.03 – 2 wickets with the ball and 18* to seal the win; official Man of the Match

- Priyansh Arya (PBKS) – 68.08 – 56 off 33, explosive powerplay knock to set up Punjab’s total
- Shreyas Iyer (PBKS) – 67.37 – 59* off 36, top-scored for Punjab in a losing cause
Turning Point
Axar Patel’s dismissal in over 13.6 with DC on 138/5. He had led the chase with controlled aggression – 56 off 30 – but his wicket left Delhi needing 73 from 37 balls with five wickets down. Madhav Tiwari was the bowler who applied the pressure in that phase. From there, it went to Miller and Ashutosh Sharma to drag Delhi over the line – and they did, with Tiwari finishing the job with the bat.
Match Context
This was the 55th match of 74 in IPL 2026. Punjab Kings sit 4th with 13 points from 10 games (W6, L3, NR1, NRR +0.571) – still firmly in the top-four picture. Delhi Capitals are 8th with 8 points from 11 games (W4, L7, NRR -1.154) – the win is welcome but a run of four from seven remaining is needed to have any hope of reaching the playoffs.
The top of the table is tight – Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans all sit on 14 points. For Punjab, a playoff spot remains very much in their own hands.
