How Statz Rating works:
- Each player receives a contextual match impact score based on their all-round contribution — batting, bowling, and situational factors.
- Ratings are scaled against the season benchmark so they are directly comparable across fixtures and to the season leaderboard.
- A typical top performer scores around 100. Exceptional performances can exceed 100.
Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders – IPL 2026 Match Report | Statz
Kolkata Knight Riders won by 8 wickets (with 34 balls remaining) to move to seventh in the IPL 2026 standings, beating Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday. This was the 51st match of 74 in the Indian Premier League 2026 Regular Season – and KKR desperately needed it. Going into the game with four wins from nine completed matches, another defeat would have left their playoff hopes hanging by a thread. Delhi, meanwhile, were already in deep trouble at 4-7, and this loss compounds a wretched second half to their campaign.
Delhi Capitals First Innings: 142/8 (20 overs)
Pathum Nissanka and Lokesh Rahul gave Delhi a brisk start, putting on 49 before Rahul (23 off 14, 4 fours) was caught at 4.6 overs with the score on 49. Nitish Rana came and went quickly – caught for 8 off 10 at 7.6 overs (74/2), unable to build on Nissanka’s foundation. Sameer Rizvi was equally brief, caught for 3 off 7 at 9.5 overs (80/3).
Nissanka was the standout Delhi batter – his 50 off 29 (5 fours, 3 sixes, SR 172) ended when he was stumped at 10.1 overs with the score on 85/4. At that point Delhi were well placed but the innings lost shape immediately after. Tristan Stubbs fell for 2 off 4 – bowled at 10.5 overs (89/5). Axar Patel ground out 11 off 22 in a painstaking effort that ultimately couldn’t shift the rate, caught at 18.3 overs (128/6).
Ashutosh Sharma provided the late fireworks with 39 off 28 (3 fours, 3 sixes, SR 139), caught at 19.2 overs as Delhi squeezed to 142/8. Mitchell Starc was run out for 0 with two balls left, leaving the innings at 140/8 before the final over managed just two more runs.
For KKR, Kartik Tyagi was the pick with 2/25 from 4 overs (Econ 6.25). Sunil Narine was excellent in his spin role – 1/17 from 4 overs at economy 4.25. Anukul Roy took 2/31 from 4 overs. Cameron Green chipped in with 1/12 from his one over.
KKR Second Innings: 147/2 (14.2 overs)
KKR’s chase was over as a contest from the moment Finn Allen got going. Ajinkya Rahane (13 off 9) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (1 off 3) were both dismissed cheaply – Rahane run out at 2.6 overs (29/1), Raghuvanshi bowled at 3.4 overs (31/2) – but by then Allen was already in full flow.
Finn Allen produced a century for the ages – 100 not out off 47 balls (5 fours, 10 sixes, SR 213). He punished everything, tearing through the Delhi attack with an authority that left the match with nowhere to go. Cameron Green joined him and saw KKR home with 33 not out off 27. The 116-run unbroken third-wicket stand sealed the win with 34 balls to spare.
Axar Patel was the pick of Delhi’s bowlers – 1/27 from 4 overs (Econ 6.75), also the only one who showed any control. Kuldeep Yadav went for 41 off 3 overs (Econ 13.67) as Allen picked him apart. Vipraj Nigam conceded 34 off 2 (Econ 17).
Statz MVP: Finn Allen – Rating 126.55
Finn Allen is the Statz MVP – and it isn’t close. His MI rating of 126.55 reflects a knock that was as dominant as it was timely for KKR. Statz calculates impact based on match context, and a match-winning T20 century at a strike rate of 213 pushes the formula to its limits. His 206 Dream11 points was also the top fantasy score of the match by a distance.
The official Man of the Match was Finn Allen – Statz agrees completely. No debate here.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Finn Allen (KKR) – 126.55 – 100* off 47, 10 sixes, SR 213. The match on a plate.
- Pathum Nissanka (DC) – 79.58 – 50 off 29 for Delhi, the only batter who gave the innings real shape.
- Axar Patel (DC) – 64.25 – The only Delhi bowler to show any control (1/27, Econ 6.75) while also contributing with the bat.
- Kartik Tyagi (KKR) – 59.93 – 2/25 from 4 overs, the best of KKR’s bowling unit in the first innings.
- Ashutosh Sharma (DC) – 56.55 – 39 off 28 late in the innings gave Delhi something to defend.
Turning Point
Pathum Nissanka stumped off Sunil Narine, over 10.1, score 85/4. Delhi had reached a serviceable platform – 85 at the halfway point with Nissanka motoring. His dismissal for 50 ended the only innings-building threat Delhi had. The following overs brought three more wickets inside the next four, and a total of 142 suddenly looked 20-25 runs short. Narine (1/17, Econ 4.25) was pivotal – the stumping was the moment Delhi’s innings turned from competitive to chaseable.
Match Context
KKR move to 7th (9 points from 10 completed matches, W4 L5, NRR -0.169). The win keeps them in the playoff conversation – they sit just one win outside the top four with four matches still to play. The pressure was real coming into this game, and they responded emphatically.
Delhi Capitals remain 8th (8 points from 11 matches, W4 L7, NRR -1.154). With 23 matches of 74 still to play across the competition, Delhi’s season is effectively over barring a remarkable run – they need wins and heavy NRR recovery just to dream of top four.
This was the 51st match of 74 in the IPL 2026 Regular Season. The playoff race is tightening at the top, and KKR – despite this comfortable win – still have work to do to make sure they’re in it.
